I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Michigan with 20 years of clinical experience. I specialize in helping people struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, low self esteem, grief and loss, family and peer relationships, life transitions, and trauma. Feelings can hit you like a force. It can make you afraid to feel things because you don’t want to get swept away by your emotions. The problem is that the more you try to suppress or put a lid on your emotions, the more overwhelming they can get. Trauma or negative situations can alter our brain structure in ways that make us more vulnerable to intense, negative emotions.
Our thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors can negatively affect our work/school performance and hurt relationships. I can teach you skills to reduce the size of the emotional force and help you keep your balance when the emotions overwhelm you. I can help you build your resilience and give you new ways to reduce the effects of things that are upsetting.

April is great. She is very helpful and listens to me thoroughly. She gave me worksheets that helped me a lot- even just reading through the info and not fully completing the worksheets really helped me. I would highly recommend her. She is also very accommodating and messages me back quickly.

April is so kind and understanding, she will meet you where you are, whoever and wherever you are. She does a great job of listing to you and learning your character and heart, then using that to help you help yourself. She may even play devils advocate which is necessary in any situation you want to see growth come from, if you never look for all the challenges, you will never fully understand and interact with situations. She is great at what she does and knows it’s important to help you keep your mind and body healthy.
