Barbara Wahler, LCSW
About me
Are you longing to understand what’s happening in your relationships?
Do you find it difficult to reach your child, your partner, your boss?
Maybe you're struggling to understand each other and not sure what went wrong...
Relationships can be difficult for everyone - for teens, for families, for couples, and for communities. Teens are struggling to discover their identities and that means sometimes they're hard to be around. For bi-racial couples, those in mixed-race blended families, or anyone wrestling with sexual identity it’s hard to know where to turn.
Right now things might seem unmanageable, but it won't always be that way. There IS hope; things will get better and I'd like to help. My mission is to help individuals and families move through life's transitions. I serve youth and adults from a variety of backgrounds/cultures who grapple with concerns about identity, self-esteem, parenting, LGBTQ+, relationships, school problems, spirituality and women's issues. I received my Masters in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and for over 30 years I have specialized in re-connecting and opening communication in strained relationships.
It's important for me to partner with clients in order to move toward healing. My methods are relational and client-focused, rooted in a background of family systems. I offer support to people wherever they may be and use different methods to connect. We may move, draw, play, listen to music, or merely sit together; always, however, with the goal of moving toward healing and wholeness.
Please take that first step toward healing and contact me. Look forward to feeling better and creating a happier life!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Barbara Wahler. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
I am incredibly grateful to have found such a wonderful therapist like Barbara Wahler. She is someone who truly listens, not just to respond, but to understand. I feel heard, respected, and supported during our sessions.
One of the things I appreciate most is how much effort she puts into understanding me as an individual. If I mention something she is not familiar with, she takes the time to research it and learn more about it. That means so much to me because it shows that she genuinely wants to understand my experiences, who I am, and what I am talking about.
I really appreciate that she provides resources that can support me outside of our sessions. Barbara has recommended helpful tools and resources for mindfulness, meditation, reflection, relaxation, and personal growth. She has suggested different types of guided practices and calming music that I can use between sessions. These recommendations are thoughtful and personalized rather than generic.
What stands out the most is her ability to connect with me. She seems to understand how to meet me where I am emotionally, so I do not feel judged or misunderstood. Instead, I feel like she creates a safe space where I can be open and honest.
I also find it very interesting that I selected Barbara Wahler as my therapist. The connection and comfort I feel with her that makes me feel like I made the right choice.

I feel that I got matched perfectly with Barbara. She has given me so much hope and I can already tell the difference from two sessions on how I feel. She intuitively knows how to get me to reveal thoughts I didn’t even know I had. I appreciate her so much.

Barbara has restored my faith in therapists. She immediately put me at ease and helped me work through and process decades of unresolved painful issues with my family. She keeps it real and reminds me how important it is to stay in tune with my body as well.
