About Me

"The difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them." This quote reflects my counseling philosophy of identifying the issues that are causing you distress and I can help realign your thinking in a way that feels supported, manageable and in control.

My name is Diahnn Austenfeld and I am a licensed professional counselor that recently transferred to the state of Texas. I have previously worked in private practice and community mental health in Michigan I was also a trained Mental Health First Aid Instructor and an active member of the Gull Lake Depression Advisory Council. You may notice that I have a lot of work energy, sensitivity and a strong passion for mental health wellness and advocacy.

I predominately work from the evidence based Cognitive-Behavioral approach which is practical and collaborative, or Mindful Based Cognitive Behavioral (MCBT) therapy. I also work from a Person-Centered, Solution-Focused or Positive Psychology approach. I work with a wide range of concerns that include anxiety, depression, relational aggression, and parenting issues. I have a strong interest in working with teens, emerging adults, females of all ages, parents and our aging populations.

My counseling style is gentle, genuine and warm and I will treat you with absolute sensitivity and respect. You are already taking the first step which I know is a difficult one, and I am here to walk beside you and take some of that burden. I am here for you and looking forward to working with you!
