In my 21 years of private practice and 10 years as a Program Director of the Professionals’ Health Program I have gained extensive experience with a diverse population and diverse issues. I believe providing a nonjudgemental, empathetic, safe and accepting environment is an essential aspect of therapy.Utilizing a varied approach of therapies (I.e. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy Emotionally Focused Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy) help with individualizing the treatment plan. Although a seasoned therapist, I believe therapists can always learn more and have a willingness to research avenues to find the best resources for my clients.
If you do not think the therapist/client relationship is a fit, it is my job to assist you in locating a therapist that is more suitable for you.
Entering therapy takes courage as you share your life issues with a stranger. I assure you, I will listen with respect and compassion as we navigate through the journey of therapy in order for you to achieve your goals.

I’ve only worked with her for a few months, but she has already made me feel heard and seen as a person. She’s not afraid to challenge my irrational beliefs and how to make changes. I am excited to continue and grow with her in therapy.

I have just begun therapy but I’m very pleased with Carolyn Westgate. She is knowledgeable, patient and a good listener. I know I will have a good outcome over time with her help and guidance.

Carolyn helped me through a lot of internal conflict with my job as an animal control officer and the restrictions I face in extreme circumstances. After these issues had largely resolved and I remained quiet on my end for some time, when I reached out with a new problem, Carolyn went out her way to respond to me quickly even while she herself was on vacation. She makes me feel valued as an individual and not like I'm just a box to check off as part of a job.
