About Me

Seasoned and clinically licensed social work practitioner with demonstrated track record of successfully working with diverse client populations including families, individuals, and couples who are facing challenging situations. With nearly twenty years of experience as a social worker in a variety of clinical settings including community mental health, special education, and the United States Army. Extensive experience with completing comprehensive psychosocial assessments, special needs populations, challenging behaviors, depression, anxiety, parenting and family crisis, post traumatic stress disorder, and severe and persistent mental illness.

Expertise in collaboratively supporting clients toward goal oriented treatment outcomes; helping clients put their thoughts and feelings into words, without the fear of criticism or judgement. Guiding clients to a better understanding and possibly a different perspective of their life circumstances. Life can be challenging, everyday stress such as relationship issues, job stress, and time management conflicts can become overwhelming and impact living a fulfilled life. Consistent counseling, healthy relationships, stress management, avoiding toxic relationships, and compassion are integral in developing different patterns of behavior and belief structures that impact skills needed to change current experiences of depression, anxiety, and conflict.

Demonstrated expertise in collaboratively supporting and training building-based teams to develop and implement individualized data based programs for students with disabilities including challenging behaviors and mental health concerns. A university based guest speaker and presenter for ongoing community training and school district professional learning communities, Crisis Prevention Institute trainer, and Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainer.

Cathy's passions include her family, travel, and veteran's causes. She is an active mother to four very active children ranging from 11 to 18; she is personally familiar with life's challenges through milestones that impact families, parents, and children.

Catherine is very understanding in flexible. I had missed our first meeting, but she promptly scheduled an earlier date that was available to make sure I was okay and we had our first face to face to better get to know each other. She's been working with me with a combination of work sheets, messages, and calls to create a plan for steps forward.

My purpose for finding an counselor has come from finding someone with expertise in my medical condition and it’s affect on my life/marriage/career. Catherine has been on point so far about how what I experienced physically plays into what I go through mentally/relationally. I’d like this review to have come later than now so I have more to say, to this point she has been exactly what I had hoped to find.

Cathy is knowledgeable and resourceful. She has helped me learn various DBT and CBT techniques. She is an empathy listener. She challenges me to think through my feelings and situations. She gives me insight and different perspectives to challenge my thoughts. She encourages me to speak up for myself. She has help me eek additional help and services when needed. She is trustworthy. She is consistent.

I have never had an experience of therapy sessions in my life and this was the first, and I can say that all the fear I had before are gone in the first session we had, Cathy is very kind and respectful person, she always knows the right words to say and knows how to make me feel more aware of myself, I have been taught a lot of important concepts about myself during the sessions. I’m so happy to go through this experience and I’ll never regret it.

Cathy is wonderful! She listens to my concerns and offers great feedback. During our sessions she always checks in if I have any other concerns besides what we’ve talked about. I always come out of a session feeling heard, and that’s really important.

Cathy has been wonderful for me and my husband. We were in a bad place and she saved our marriage. Luckily, my husband connected with her and was able to take her advice. She also was a huge support for me, not sure how I could have gotten through those rough times without her.

Ms. Cathy was a great counselor. She goes in depth about how to fix situations you have trouble with.
She is very friendly and is very good at replying. She made me feel comfortable sharing. 11/10 would recommend.

Cathy has been wonderful! She checks in with me every week between our weekly appointments. She listens to my concerns well, and always makes sure to follow up on things we discussed last week. She’s very encouraging and supportive. She lets me voice my concerns and anxiety and acknowledges it as legitimate feelings that she helps me break down and address. She’s been wonderful!

I came to BetterHelp because I was in very low point and severely depressed and angry.
