Cheryl Salas

(M.MFT, LMFT)

About Me

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 17 years of experience working with couples, individuals, families and groups in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I have worked with clients dealing with a wide range of concerns including spiritual issues, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, stress, career challenges, and divorce recovery. I have also done a lot of premarital work, communication training and have counseled women struggling with eating disorders.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach is eclectic and includes cognitive-behavioral, paradoxical, empathic listening and family of origin work. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs, working to find a pace that both challenges you to reach the goals you desire to achieve, while also helping you to feel heard, understood and as comfortable as possible.

It takes a great deal of courage to reach out for help in order to have a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take those steps, I am excited to help support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Cheryl is positive, wise, kind, experienced and compassionate. She draws heavily from her Christian / spiritual perspective in interactions, when providing insight. But she is equally effective in a secular context. She is A+, 5-star in my opinion.

Cheryl is amazing and a very nice woman. Love that she is a Christian and shares her views with me and that she is honest. I’ve been seeing Cheryl as my therapist for over a year and it’s totally worth it because I feel like I’m getting better

Cheryl is a phenomenal woman of God. She teaches me how much God loves me despite how I see myself. She’s patient, She’s understanding and she takes her time to break down everything so that I can understand it. I love the great guidance she gives. She gets me even when I’m so confused she makes everything clear and points me back to God every time . Which is what I prayed God would give me in this counseling experience. I’m so appreciative of her. There is no one like her.

Ms. Salas is the best counselor I have ever had. She's the most genuine and caring person who has transformed my life for the better. Don't give up on counseling until you've talked with her.

I only had one session with Cheryl and she’s so sweet, caring and her energy is just super therapeutic. I’ve never felt this comfortable opening up to a therapist. She makes me feel like I’m going to be okay and that everything is okay. I’m excited to see what the future hold now.

Cheryl is one of the kindest and most open counselors I have ever worked with. She shares wonderful advice and gave concrete exercises and examples to work on outside of our sessions. She is always conscientious and clear about what we have discussed and what to work on and does so with compassion and honesty, always conscious of both your feelings and time. I would recommend her to anyone.

It was great working with Cheryl. From the very first few times that we communicated, she help me feel comfortable and understood. She provided me with excellent tools to help me see things from a different and much better perspective. With her help, I've began to "live" again, instead of just going through the motions. Thank you Cheryl!
