I began working in the mental health field in 1993. I worked in residential treatment facilities with teenage girls and boys until I received my Master's in Social Work at the University of Louisville in 1999. Since 1999, I have been employed as a social worker for severe mentally ill adults, counselor and a director in foster care settings, counselor in psychiatric residential treatment facility for teenage girls and prepubescent boys, intensive in home counselor for children and teenagers with their families for the past 15 years, and outpatient mental health counselor for adults, families, and couples. I opened my private practice in 2008 where I see adults and couples who are dealing with depression, anxiety, marriage problems, relationship issues, grief, loss, parenting issues, anger, substance abuse, domestic violence, PTSD, trauma, stressors, work place problems, financial difficulties, ADHD, bipolar, mood disorders, and personality disorders. I use person centered therapy where I focus on the totality of the client that includes their mental, physical, emotional, relational, spiritual (if applicable), and recreational health and how they are meeting those needs. I use cognitive behavior therapy to help clients identify thinking patterns and cognitive distortions/faulty thinking errors that are impeding their progress and ways to replace those thinking errors with rational thought. I ask about family history, trauma, and if those trauma's are impeding present day life. I used shot term solution therapy where needed to help client's develop goals and strategies with their input to meet their needs. I help clients identify coping skills for problems and ways to implement those skills.

Very helpful sessions with Christy, working through a personal situation.
I like my sessions with Christy. She’s empathetic and understands most of my issues well. I would also encourage her to challenge my thoughts more though. :)
Christy is a pleasure to work with. She offers support and talks about different options and consequences for those options. I enjoy my sessions.
Christy is amazing, I’m grateful for her support each week. She really makes a difference in my mental health, and inspires me with her knowledge to have a new perspective.
Christy has told me about several excellent things. I am currently reading one of the books that she suggested & it is 100% me - I never, ever would have considered that it had a thing to do with me & never would have bothered with it. I have now recommended it to a few people & shared quotes from it to show them why I am recommending it. She helped me get past a rough patch in my life & now I’m just growing from our meetings.
Christy is wonderful. Very caring person
Christy is great. She really helped me with my perspective on some issues.
Outstanding! If needed I would follow-up in the future.
Christy is amazing! She really listens and gave me a new perspective while helping me with my depression. She has a way with words - without saying much she guides my thoughts in the right direction.
She's great! , she listens to me and makes it a great comfort to share anything and be open.
the worksheets also helped me a lot, there are things I wasn't aware of.
overall a great experience with Christy!
She is a great speaker
I am very happy to found her
