Hello, my name is Cortney. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have been working as a mental health therapist for 6 years. Most of my experience has been working in community clinics, working with adult clients. My experience includes working with clients with a wide range of mental health disorders (mild life stressors, change, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, bipolar, psychosis, trauma, anger management, co-occurring disorders). My education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling, and 1,000 clinical hours as a mental health intern in various placements.
My treatment approach is person centered; I want to meet you where you're at. I want to know what your wants/needs are so I can help you achieve your goals using a solution focused and cognitive behavioral therapy approach. My goal is to help support and guide you, ultimately while you're the one coming to conclusions and making appropriate changes to help you make progress/achieve your goals.

Please be advised that my typical office hours are Monday-Friday 8am-4pm EST, with my last live session be scheduled at 2pm. I try my best to accommodate evening appointments when necessary, but if you're primarily looking for consistent appointments outside of these hours a counselor with evening/weekend hours may be better suited for you.

Cortney is a great counselor! In contrast to other experiences I've in the past, Cortney took the time to sift through a LOT of complicated background context and sent plenty of resources all on day 1 -- it was so empowering to feel like I could actually make progress immediately after the first session because we were able to triage what was most important and come up with a plan to get through the week. I feel like I've been able to grow a lot in the last month, and it has helped me navigate high-stress situations better than I would have in the past, especially with regards to self-care and validation. From the beginning of our first session, Cortney has taken the stress of finding a compatible counselor away. My first time with online counseling and my experience has been amazing. The flexibility of scheduling has been great and the video chat allows me to be where I need to but still benefit from weekly sessions.
