I am Leeann Mickel, I have a masters degree in educational psychology with an emphasis on community counseling. I have my LPC, licensed professional counselor Masters level. I also have an LC DC licensed chemical dependency counselor. I have worked 20 + years in the field of service. I have had great success with clients who have experienced significant trauma. I have been Clinical Supervisor for a substance abuse residential setting. I am currently Clinical Director for the agency with whom I am employed
at this time. I believe it to be my mission helping and serving. My approach is client centered we start where you are. I am very laid-back and personable, I have forever been told how easy it is to talk to me, even prior to my chosen career! That’s a plus when you’re a therapist! I have some clients who simply need an ear and guidance. Others are eager to get to the cause of what prompted them to reach out. Either is great. I understand that some people need to vent and receive professional advice. I tell all of my clients you have inside you now everything you need to heal and progress. My job is to guide you on the journey in this process of self discovery and healing. I also tell my clients that I will work just as hard as you in doing this, but I will never work harder. This would cause more harm by handicapping them if others around never allow my clients to learn through experience, and rob my client of demonstrating to themselves the opportunity to see how capable they actually are. I have worked with many populations: adolescents, adults with variety of disorders/conditions. Such as mental health diagnosis like depression, bi polar, anxiety, and PTSD. For the last six years I have led our adolescent program. I'm very familiar with self harming behaviors, and have a knack of being able to reach them and slowly process into self love. I also have extensive experience with grief which may look different and feel different among different clients. Even those who believe that have mourned and grieved, but truly have not. I look forward to working with you and helping you along your specific path. My schedule is very flexible, as a I only work from home, virtually/remote. During therapy it will be common to give 'experiments' following a session. The purpose for this is taking from our sessions and applying what you learn to your 'real life' outside of one session weekly for an hour.

We matched on the first try within 24 hours, Still not sure, I was quickly put at ease. Cynthia is an active listener, who remembers past sessions or information in your journals. Remembering is key for me because it shows how much she listens, strives to understand her patient, and makes you accountable.

I enjoy my sessions. Some are making priority lists and others are checking things off lists. Being held accountable without judgment and she provides encouragement to achieve more out of life.

I'm so glad that I was connected with Cynthia. I'm not someone who talks freely to just anyone about my trauma filled past, and being a few letters in LGBTQ2SIA+. But, I feel comfortable talking with her. She is kind, caring and really listens to me. I feel I'm making a lot of progress.

I’ve only seen her for a couple of sessions but I am so glad that she is my therapist. She empathizes with grief and just understands what that means. It’s amazing to find a therapist that works for me because sometimes that’s hard and she is amazing.’ I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to be her client.

Cynthia listens and takes in everything I’m saying. I appreciate the way she engages with me. She asks questions, confirms what I’m feeling and provides me with advice and tools I can use to improve my life. I can see and feel things shifting. At first I thought I’d give therapy a month but now I’ll be extending out because the benefits and what I’m learning is so worthwhile. The app itself too is fantastic! It’s nice to know Cynthia is there for me outside of our session times!

Cynthia has been such an amazing therapist, I would highly recommend her to anyone. She has always been wonderfully supportive, providing great insights and guidance. I will really miss speaking with her on a weekly basis but I know feel that it's time I take on the world on my own. I don't think I would be the happy, confident and insightful individual I am today if it wasn't for her support.

Cynthia is really relatable and patient. And provides a very good and safe place for me to just unpack, and be confident she will be there to help me make my way back to a good mental space after a particularly introspective session. Very kind and approachable as well when it comes to deeper themes that could potentially be triggering to talk about with other therapists - Cynthia does her best!
