Dr. David Barrera, LPC
About me
I have been working in the mental health field since the early 2000s. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a PhD in Counselor Education. I've worked with various clients struggling with a multitude of issues including personal, marital, and family issues, domestic violence, and challenging parenting situations. For many years I worked with parents whose children were sexually abused and helped them work through all the difficulties that come with such tragedy. I have worked extensively in the field of mental illness and I am comfortable working with individuals struggling with emotional issues related to life's problems as well as challenging mental illness problems, whether these struggles are those of the patient or those of the family members touched by mental illness. The focus of my practice is approaching problems directly with genuine and sincere communication and addressing those problems as a team with the client.
