About me
Please let me introduce myself. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the States of Utah and Idaho. I have 18 years of counseling experience working with a broad range of clients in the areas of mental health and substance use disorders. My work has been in a community mental health setting serving the public. Now I am using that experience in a private setting with BetterHelp. Following the global pandemic in 2020, much of my work shifted from direct face-to-face meetings to online and phone based sessions. I found this to be an effective way of helping people. In fact, some clients are better able to share their feelings and concerns online, through text messages, or over the phone than in person.
The strengths I have developed include: working with people in a nonjudgmental way; helping them to see how change can benefit their lives; and providing support for those changes. My approach to counseling begins where you are, using person-centered therapy. I combine elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy into my work, as appropriate.
I recognize that seeking help requires courage. Often, obstacles get in the way of asking for help. Now that you have taken that step, I offer my help to join with you in seeking a better life through change. My goal is to provide counseling to empower you to make the changes you want to make. I look forward to the opportunity and privilege of working with you.
