About me

I am a licensed therapist located in Southern Maryland. I have been practicing therapy for over ten years, first working for a nonprofit agency, now in private practice. I have two masters degrees (MA: English, William and Mary; MS: Counseling, Johns Hopkins). At my previous position, I worked with both children and adults. My primary theoretical orientations are Rogerian (Client Centered), and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). My empathetic nature, listening skills, and practical suggestions have led to successful outcomes with my clients throughout my counseling career. I taught English and Latin in a public high school for over thirty years prior to my counseling career. I have two grown, married children. My personal interests include reading, photography, music, and spending time with my one year old golden retriever, Henry.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Davis Rice. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I’m rather new to therapy, and skeptical in the past. But my experience with Mr. Rice has been very comfortable. I look forward to our sessions.

Talking with Davis is very easy. He's professional, calm, understanding and supportive. I normally don't talk about my feelings much and find it hard to share what's on my mind with others sometimes. With Davis I can just be myself, and share my thoughts as they are. I've never done therapy before, but it seems like he's exactly what you would want your therapist to be. Highly recommended.

Davis is an excellent therapist who is an incredibly patient, kind and supportive person through and through. Listens to all of my concerns thoroughly and responds to me with a lot of thought and care. I can’t recommend him more as a health care professional!!
