Hi, my name is Dawn Brown. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Board Certified Counselor and have been working in my field for more than 21 years. The bulk of my career has been spent working with individuals struggling to find themselves or may need a path to (re)discover their capabilities. This may be due to issues involving depression, anxiety or trauma. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families, as well with people over a wide array of ages.
I find that there is such a pre-conceived notion about those who may need to reach out to a mental health care professional that I look to put clients at ease. Whether the situation involves family, depression, relationships, grief, anger, work,, etc. As a result, I believe in using a solution-focused approach, which allows us to quickly get to the root of the presenting problem. Cognitive behavioral therapy or more simply, how we think impacts how we behave, is what I most often use. As every situation and individual is unique, I also have other methods to assist in evaluating and exploring obstacles.
Most recently, I worked on a military installation providing counseling to soldiers and their families. I spent many years in a brick and mortar private practice, but now welcome and look forward to the opportunity to help those who may be less comfortable in an office setting.
I earned my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University (St. Charles, MO), have earned a certification in Telemental Health Counseling and Supervision and have a certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Dawn is wonderful. I have a lot of things in my life and issues with myself that I have had no one to talk with about because of how unusual and sensitive these things are. Dawn has helped me feel extremely comfortable talking about them, and is genuinely concerned and searching for ways for me to be at peace. Today was my third session, and we have already made progress. I feel better than I did a month ago.
Dawn Brown is the greatest counselor I have ever had. She makes you feel like family. I feel at home with her. I am so thankful that God set her as my counselor. I take notes during our sessions because she is so knowledgeable and her guidance and advice are unparalleled. She’s so funny too. We laugh and they say laughter is the best medicine. She’s not your average counselor, in my personal experience with counselors over the years. I can tell she really does care- a lot about her clients. Dawn is always upbeat and ready to help her clients get motivated, lessen or diminish one’s depression or even a panic attack. She listens to every word I say and has a memory like an elephant. So thankful for Dawn! Thank you, Dawn, for guiding me through this thing we call life!
Talking with Dawn is like talking to an old friend or family member who genuinely cares about you and what you’re going through. I am excited to continue my journey with her.
She is a wonderful counselor. I would do phone sessions weekly and send messages during bad flare ups. Our conversations were very relaxed, it was like talking to a friend. She never made me feel like there was a problem with me (like I was broken for feeling and thinking how I was when I was bad). I responded well to her personality and method of counseling, this coming from a person who was very skeptical about counseling and had tried in the past with no success. I would highly recommend her as a counselor. If I need help again in the future I will come back to Dawn at Betterhelp.
Dawn is helping me cope with the hardest thing I've ever led my heart to. She listens, provides a means to be successful in recovery and provides options for my recovery.
Dawn was a light in my weekly routine. My job is very isolating and she quickly used her wit to cheer me up while also getting to know me, my issues while also spotting the others that were hidden. In a short time, my mindset was changed for the better. She’s great :)
She is the best counselor I've ever had, and I've had a lot over the years. It is like talking to a good friend who wants the very best for you, and also understands psychology on a deeper level.
I came to Dawn at a difficult time in my life. I am a younger person and I was looking for guidance with issues with my family. She was a huge support in my life when I had very little. I wasn't used to others understanding, respecting, and helping me through the situation I was in, but she was always willing to be there for me, even just to ask how my day was going. Most importantly, she made me realize that I am not alone in my struggles and that I was worthy of support, that I deserved it. She is one of the kindest, most respectful and lovely person I have ever had the privilege of knowing. She's more than just my counselor. She's my friend.
Dawn Brown is a wonderful counselor! This is my first counseling experience and she really helped calm my nerves and ease my into everything.
Dawn has allowed me to open up and answer difficult questions, while also learning more about myself. I feel so comfortable talking to her and it is if I am speaking to a friend. She has been very accommodating and made last minute appointments to speak with me when I am feeling anxious. I look forward to our phone calls each week! Thank you Dawn.
Dawn was exactly what I needed in a counselor. Being so genuine and real, I felt able to open up more than I imagined I would. She had great recommendations for me and was able to give me a new perspective on my situation. Her experience and background allows her to connect with virtually anyone. She is someone I see myself continuing to work with for personal growth. Thank you, Dawn!
Dawn is extremely professional, while also being extremely down to earth. She is very compassionate, caring, and supportive of my endeavors, and is never afraid to ask the hard questions and relate. I feel that I can trust her, not only with my treatment, but my wellbeing as a whole. A wonderful person to know.
She’s great - it’s like talking to a friend.
She is a great therapist.
I have only had one session with her but I am already comfortable talking to her about my deepest secrets. She is very professional and has a pleasant demeanor.
Dawn has been extremely kind and welcoming as I've been getting to know her. She is eager to offer suggestions on how to help with your problems and is also full of compliments about what you are doing that is good. She is extremely nonjudgemental and very easy to talk to openly and honestly.
While Dawn is excellent at listening to everything you feel. I feel like she truly excels in giving you the other side of things. Especially things you can’t see yourself. It has opened me up to looking at things in life much more differently than I used to.
Great counselor with a lot of expertise in many areas which made me feel like I had someone on my side that I could listen to and she was there to help and support me.
