About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland with over 20 years of experience in treating mental health and addiction issues. I specialize in treating adults who present with both issues at the same time ("co-occurring" disorders). I hold two masters degrees- in Counseling and Education. I have worked in a variety of settings: corporate employee assistance programs (EAP); community psychiatry programs; out- patient addiction recovery clinics; residential psychiatric and addiction center. I have also served as a "Crisis Interventionist" in an ER setting, so I am comfortable sorting out complex problems in a rapidly changing environment.
Prior to serving as a corporate and community counselor, I was a corporate trainer, specializing in Coping Skills. So I provide psycho-educational skills to enhance individual therapy.
My style is client-centered and solution-focused. I will provide you with a safe space to help you explore, assess and develop a do-able treatment plan. The goal is to help you decide what changes you want to make to increase satisfaction with your life. My focus is on providing you with practical skills that help you with everyday issues: decision -making; self-management; emotional regulation; anger management; coping with stress and resolving relational conflicts.

I have had a few therapists that didn't work out. I always felt so disconnected from them and never found much value in the sessions. Dawn was assigned to me when I started BetterHelp and I couldn't be happier. She has supported me during one of the hardest months of my life. She is genuinely caring and my conversations with her not only provide comfort but insight when addressing my feelings. She makes me feel so comfortable, never judged, and heard.
