I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York. I operate from several treatment including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). I Received my Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling and chose to obtain an additional specialty in Sexual Orientation. I am able to work with individuals and couples/relationships both straight and LGBTQ as well as monogamous and polyamorous for a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns. I currently work in an agency that specializes in the recovery model, which helps our patients set goals for their own lives and functioning and then systematically remove barriers to those barriers that are related to mental health impairment. I endorse this philosophy.
Philosophically I believe that people are not defined by their mental illness or diagnosis and I work hard to help those I work with find the freedom they seek to have the life they want. I have experience working with individuals who suffer from depression, Anxiety and phobias, addiction/substance abuse, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, trauma, personality disorders, recovering from infidelity, sexual functioning concerns (all gender identifications) as well as those considering gender reassignment surgery.

I don’t know if I can truly express how much working with Demire has meant to me. Talking to him has helped me develop ways of dealing with life in ways I never thought I could. I’m much more present in the moment (not 100%, but more). He’s great 11/10.
Demire is an excellent therapist who helps me achieve my goals in a ways that are feasible and effective. He has helped me get through a difficult time in my life and he is currently helping me with other areas of my life that I had found challenging due to some core beliefs. ACT has been an effective approach for me; it provides an insightful way of framing suffering such that I am able to live my life without having to feel that I need to combat my thoughts first.

We‘re also talking about positive things and he’s celebrating my successes with me. We’re talking from really bad to really good, the whole spectrum. My therapist is super smart; he has to be to keep up with me, and so far, I’ve never ended a session without a new perspective, skill, tool, strategy, and feeling hopeful about the week that’s ended, and the one ahead of our next session. Good times, mostly. Even if it is - therapy - and it’s good for yah.
