About me

I am an independently licensed therapist licensed in Iowa with over 10 years of experience working with couples, families, and individuals. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, PTSD, Bi-Polar, anger management, trauma, cognitive/emotional confusion, and self-identity concerns. I have helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, MI (motivational interviewing), trauma informed care (TIC), and person-centered therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Donald is very understanding and supportive. He is easy to interact with and keeps things simple, while always providing a few great points to consider that resonate after the sessions.

Donald wasn’t just there to listen, he gave me so many pointers on how to maneuver through life and my current situation. He helped me process some of the things I was experiencing, and taught me to understand not all burdens are mine to carry. He gave me worksheets, books, and quotes to help me wrap my mind around a better reality. He gave me praise when I responded well to something I would normally spiral over. He wasn’t like other therapists bringing up old drama, he focused on how you can move forward, not backwards. He helped me realize where happiness lies and I am forever grateful to have had sessions with Donald. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great therapist. Very thankful.

I think Donald was the person I needed in my life at this time. Things happen for a reason and I’m surprised that the first therapist I was given was someone I could connect like I have. He listens, he gives advice, and he talks me through my problems. It’s the friend I wish I had. Thanks Don! You rock!
