I understand that the decision to enter into counseling may have been a difficult one for you. I know that making that first call is the most difficult and bravest thing you can do for yourself. I have been on both sides of the desk, so I can relate to that fear and anxiety. Before you agree to enter into a counseling relationship with me, I believe it’s important for you to understand my background.
I have many personal loss experiences which led me to this career and many years of experience as a hospice volunteer, grief and loss training, facilitating a young partner loss group, grief and loss groups using art expression, a guest blogger and artist for an online pregnancy loss support group, illustrated and co-wrote a Hospice of Lenawee, MI grief journal, an artist, and a published poet. I have over ten years of experience in career counseling earning two certifications, have worked in non-profit, hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, substitute teaching, a mental health clinic, and most recently in private practice. I also am a Certified Therapeutic Art Life Coach.
I consider myself an eclectic, faith based (religion need not be discussed) counselor that is person centered with an empathetic strength based approach. I incorporate the use of art expression using: various art media, writing, relaxation, yoga, and music (the use of essential oils and nutrition can also be discussed). I received an associate’s degree in psychology and a bachelor of fine arts degree, Cum Laude, in 1999 and received my master of arts in counseling in 2006 from Siena Heights University. I have also earned post graduate credits in art therapy. I can help you with life adjustment, bereavement, depression, stress, and anxiety. My hope is that through a non-judgmental approach, you will accept my support and encouragement during the difficulty you may be experiencing in your life journey.

Donna is insightful, kind, supportive, clear, and uses great tools like worksheets and art projects to help gain a better understanding of her clients. I have had a very positive experience with her in the first few weeks I’ve worked with her. She seems to help cut through murky problems and clarify and simplify them.
I don’t think I could’ve been matched with anyone better. I’ve been making a lot of progress but it’s so nice knowing she’s there if I ever start to feel down again.
Donna is very kind and is a good listener. She is quick to respond within her set hours and is very clear in her communication. While I did not work with Donna for very long, I am thankful for her help.
Donna is kind, creative, and receptive. She was a great fit for my online therapy and made me feel truly seen and heard.
Donna is very warm & friendly & I feel very safe talking to her. She listens & offers great feedback & advice.
Donna is the best therapist I have found so far on Betterhelp. She is very approachable and timely and really takes time to listen and understand. She also uses various modes of therapy and is more concerned about the client than the amount of time she spends on video calls. I absolutely would recommend her to others!
