Donnise Powell, LCSW
About me
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I am passionate about supporting youth & young adults as they navigate life’s challenges and move toward healing, growth, and greater emotional well-being. I believe therapy is not about having someone solve your problems for you—it’s about having a supportive guide who walks alongside you as you discover your own strength, resilience, and path forward.
My approach to therapy is warm, authentic, and relational. I’ve never been one to feel comfortable in overly formal therapeutic settings, and I strive to create a space that feels welcoming, safe, and genuine. Many clients describe my style as conversational, down-to-earth, and easy to connect with. My goal is to make therapy feel less like sitting across from an expert and more like having a meaningful conversation with someone who truly cares about your well-being and growth.
I believe healing happens through connection, honesty, and self-discovery. While I bring clinical knowledge and evidence-based practices to our work together, I also recognize the power of lived experience. When appropriate, I may share personal insights and testimonies that help foster connection and remind you that healing is possible. Supporting others on their healing journeys continues to strengthen and deepen my own.
As a woman of faith, I welcome opportunities to incorporate spirituality and Christian values into therapy for clients who desire that perspective. At the same time, I honor and respect each client’s unique beliefs, values, and experiences. I also believe that humor, laughter, and moments of joy are important parts of the healing process. Life can be heavy, and sometimes a little laughter creates the space we need to breathe, reconnect, and move forward.
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem, trauma, or simply feeling overwhelmed, my hope is that you will find a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can show up exactly as you are. Together, we’ll explore your challenges, build on your strengths, and work toward the life you want to create.
