My name is Elaine and I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor who draws from a range of counselling techniques and traditions in order to ensure that my clients benefit from an approach that is designed to meet their individual needs.
I am fully insured and as a member of the BACP, I abide by its code of ethics. If you are using my service for the first time you can expect to find a confidential, safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore any thoughts or feelings that have been causing you emotional pain, confusion or difficulty.
I work closely with each of my clients and will support them in the task of identifying areas of their lives that they would like to change. Together we then explore options and choices. I support my clients to formulate goals and decide on a therapeutic plan to guide them on their journey to greater wellbeing. I will walk alongside you through your anxiety, depression or low moods; together we will explore the cause and get to the root of the problem.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT BEING A COUNSELLOR
My job as a Counsellor has afforded me the honour and privilege to meet and help so many interesting and wonderful people. Over the years I have seen so many people transform themselves and their lives through self-discovery. To be part of that transformation is priceless to say the least. The work we will do in therapy will not be easy, we will cry, we will laugh and there will be discomfort, but through the discomfort will come growth and change
Approaches
My counselling approach is mainly influenced by the following:
Additional areas of focus:Addictions, Family conflicts, Intimacy-related issues, Eating disorders, Sleeping disorders, Parenting issues, Anger management, Self esteem, Career difficulties, Bipolar disorder, Coping with life changes, Coaching, Compassion fatigue, Abandonment, Attachment issues, Communication problems, Divorce and separation, Domestic violence, Emptiness, Family problems, Forgiveness, Guilt and shame, Infidelity, Life purpose, Narcissism, Obsessions, compulsions, and OCD, Panic disorder and panic attacks, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Prejudice and discrimination, Self-harm, Self-love, Sexual assault and abuse, Social anxiety and phobia, Women's issues, Workplace issues, Young adult issues

Elaine has been my breath of fresh air and a huge support to me whilst processing a lot of challenges I had never fully addressed - she is fun to chat to and goes at my pace and has really helped me to better understand my thoughts and feelings and take control rather than let my mind take over. I would highly recommend Elaine to anyone who is looking for a supportive and caring therapist to make you feel at ease when you don’t feel at ease in yourself.
