My name is Elizabeth “Liz” Smith. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania, and a National Certified Counselor. I completed my master's degree in professional counseling at Waynesburg University in 2010 as a nontraditional student.
I have primarily worked with those who have struggled with depression, anxiety, career issues, mood dysregulation, relationship and couple problems, and other life challenges presented by any type of life being disordered. I have completed 42 hours of training in EMDR therapy and am currently under supervision towards obtaining certification to help clients struggling with symptoms related to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I have worked with many families and children on the autism spectrum and have been told that my insight is helpful. I have obtained Specialized Family Therapy Certification and training to provide Co-Parenting, Trans-Parenting, and Re-unification services. Finally, I have also studied and provided grief and loss approaches in counseling.
As a therapist, I walk alongside and focus on each person’s specific identified needs and I adjust my style accordingly. In addition to trauma evidence-based approaches, I tend to draw from client centered, solution focused, strength based and motivational approaches. Many of my clients have reported experiencing increased positive self-image, freedom from emotions tied to traumatic memories, and improved constructive communication and coping skills.
I am down to earth and approachable. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, and without judgement, accepted and understood. I will check and respond to messages at least twice daily, six days a week. I will offer live chat, phone sessions and occasional video sessions weekly, mostly between the hours of 8 AM and 6 PM on identified days of the week.

Elizabeth Smith takes time to listen to my concerns and gives me helpful ways to deal with my stress and anxiety.
Elizabeth has been very kind the first couple of sessions. I’m so thankful for her !
Liz is always ready to listen and explain ways to cope and deal. She teaches you to have a different perspective and helps you find your own truth and your own answers. She is the best
I didn't end up spending a lot of time working with Liz before my life circumstances changed such that I no longer needed therapy, but in our sessions she made an effort to quickly but gently get directly to the root of the problem, and was able to give me actionable advice that helped me out.
she has truly helped change my life
Though I am only a few sessions in, I feel comfortable opening up to Liz. Her advice and perspective has been insightful into recognizing what I am dealing with, and how to make steps toward healing have already been helping. I am thankful to have her as my therapist.
Felt an immediate connection with Liz. I’m all over the place with my thoughts and feelings sometimes. Liz has been doing an excellent job navigating and sifting her way through my surface issues and is working with me on getting to the roots of my problems. She is pure awesomeness!
Liz is awesome. She has a way of going deep and asking things that you didn’t know were bothering you! I enjoy working with her!
Elizabeth is a great listener. She makes you really reflect on yourself and cause you to dig deep and find the root of what’s going on.
I joined Betterhelp and had two counselors prior to Elizabeth who weren’t very responsive. She had been wonderful in seeing my struggle and checking on me a lot in between scheduled weekly sessions. She sends me valuable information and worksheets to help me work through things on my own and is a great listener. People in my life are seeing positive changes in me after only a couple of weeks during a period of tremendous change and difficulty in my life, so I am very happy with the experience!
Elizabeth is very supportive.
Liz is truly the most helpful, insightful counselor that I’ve ever seen. She is also one of the kindest, most caring people I’ve ever met. She has helped me look at my worries in a different way. I’m so lucky to have met her.
Elizabeth has been the kindest, most effective counselor I’ve ever worked with. She is great at what she does and truly cares.
Elizabeth is always checking in and following up. She informed me of her availability since day 1. Looking forward to working with her more!
Elizabeth Smith is fantastic! I don’t think I red the first question correctly so please disregard it :)
Elizabeth has been a great source to bounce ideas off of and to gain different perspectives on a situation. She is caring and compassionate.
Liz is incredible. She helps me to reflect and is the perfect guide in how to navigate my issues. She acts as a sounding board while still helping me and guiding me.
