About Me

I am a professional counselor licensed in the state of Missouri, with over 3 years of experience, and over a decade of experience working with addiction and mental health. I have worked with a range of clients, from children to elderly, who have come to me for a variety of issues, including anxiety and stress, depression, relationship issues, addiction, and lack of motivation.

There are times in our lives when we need a new vision and someone to help us create strategies to overcome old challenges and take life to the next level. Seeking this change can be a daunting task, but I am here to help support you in your success. My counseling style is rather eclectic, based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with strong influences from Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused techniques, and existential psychotherapy.

I look forward to working with you!

I've never felt the need to be dishonest with my therapist. I was worried I would. But the level of comfort he had to offer, even from the first message, quickly dissolved those feelings. The chat option has been wonderful! Even if I'm not speaking directly to him at that moment, it helps to know things are off my chest. And I also know he'll get the message and know exactly how to respond to ease the feeling of doubt. He's helped me to remind myself that I'm important and worth the work it's going to take to get back to me. It's been nothing short of liberating.

I have never been comfortable with traditional counseling, but since I have been chat meeting with Ian Guthrie, I feel more stable and confident.

A very warm, receptive, and understanding counselor. The advice he gives me is practical and useful for myself and those I interact with. I appreciate his help and find it invaluable.

Ian has been wonderful to talk to. Prompt with his messages, and always great to talk to during our video calls. I’m currently going through a bad time in life, and I wouldn’t be as calm or rationale if it were not for my weekly meetings here, as well as the chat room we have 24 hour access to.

Patient, kind and always listening. I never feel like he doesn't understand what I'm trying to say.

Ian is great. He is very good at knowing when to speak and when to listen and has a knack for making me feel at ease. I've come away from each of our talks having my questions answered truthfully and helpfully and feeling overall happy. Thanks dude!

Mr. Guthrie is incredibly kind, helpful and understanding. I always feel safe talking to him about sensitive matters, and his advice and way of looking at things are always very practical and useful. I always feel that he cares about helping me, and he's very timely and consistent, getting back to me almost every day to help me out. I'm very glad I was paired with him.

I've been working with Ian. He's a great counselor. He checks up on me via messages. He provides so much more value than just going on video call sessions with me. He doesn't just help me understand my feelings. He also gives me proper advices and action steps to change my life. I felt like I could trust him from the first few messages that we exchanged. I strongly recommend him for everyone!

Ian has been wonderful. He is understanding and perceptive to what I say. If given another choice I would choose to have him as my therapist again and would recommend to others as well. ***** Five stars
