I specialize in therapy for children, adolescents, and families, with a particular focus on couples counseling. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University of New England and have 35 years of experience in psychotherapy. As a reality therapist, I believe that it is essential not only to discuss issues but also to create a treatment plan to address them. This often includes weekly homework assignments.
I am also a certified specialist in eating disorders and have effectively used biofeedback as a therapeutic tool. My training includes a focus on meditation, which I acquired in Okinawa, Japan, where I achieved a 9th degree black belt and teach Uechi Ryu karate.
Additional areas of focus:Stress, Anxiety, LGBT, Trauma and abuse, Grief, Intimacy-related issues, Sleeping disorders, Self esteem, Bipolar disorder, Depression, Coping with life changes, ADHD, Body image, Communication problems, Control issues, Divorce and separation, Hospice and end-of-life counseling, Infidelity, Personality disorders, Phobias, Social anxiety and phobia

He gets to know the person. He works to know your wants and needs. I like talking with him and it helps me to get things off my mind. He is open minded and looks at many options to help me. I like how he thinks and how he works with the not so conventional matters.

JC is incredible to talk to - he makes it very easy for a first timer like me. I found him to be very understanding and calm and felt like he understood what I was trying to convey. He also helped me understand my concerns by breaking them down very well. My only qualm with JC is that I wish he had other days apart from Monday available to BetterHelp users - I.e. More flexibility in timings. I would definitely recommend JC to others.

I have been working with James for several weeks now. Like an onion, I have many layers and most make me cry, however James is really understanding and helps me navigate through my thoughts and feelings. He’s helping with my food addiction and supporting me as I relearn the “eat to live” vs “live to eat” mentality.

I used to underestimate conventional therapy but I always leave my appointments with James feeling empowered and understood. He's brilliant at providing a perspective that really challenges my negative self-talk. I'm really glad that he can open my eyes to new insights and ways of thinking.
