About me

You may be experiencing moments of overwhelm, uncertainty, or difficulty determining how to move forward. I graduated from St. Mary's University with my Doctorate in Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision. I offer professional support grounded in more than 18 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. My work focuses on assisting individuals navigating stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, motivation challenges, self‑esteem concerns, and substance‑use recovery. I am committed to helping clients identify their strengths, gain clarity, and cultivate a meaningful and fulfilling life. My approach is collaborative and empowering, guided by the belief that each person is the expert of their own lived experience.

My dedication to the Texas community includes service as an LPC mentor, adjunct professor, and graduate counseling student mentor. I bring a broad professional background shaped by national‑level leadership roles, international collaboration in corporate settings, and Peace Corps service in Malawi and Mexico. My training at leading music conservatories further informs a multicultural and creative perspective. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy hiking, biking, fencing, and studying literature and poetry; my training for the 1996 Olympic Games in fencing continues to influence my discipline and values. These diverse experiences, including work as a nanny and training with the American Red Cross abroad, have strengthened my commitment to service, adaptability, and human connection. Reaching out for support is a meaningful and courageous step, and I am prepared to walk alongside you as you begin your healing journey.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Janis Edralin. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

One problem I have had with therapy and therapist in the pass is I felt like i wasn't being heard. That was totally opposite of my experience with Janis Edralin. She listened to my concerns, and I could tell she had empathy. That was a huge part of my decision to keep going to her. I don't wish to be coddled, just heard. I think she the kind of therapist I have been searching for.

Janis is very attentive and asks me questions that challenge my way of thinking and behaviors. Would strongly recommend
