I have been working as a Marriage and Family Therapist for 18 years and I have been licensed in the State of California since 2007. I completed my Master of Arts Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at Chapman University in Monterey, California, and have worked with individuals and families in a variety of settings, including community resource centers and residential treatment facilities. I have treated a variety of issues, including mood disorders, anxiety, anger management, stress management, and various adjustment problems. As we have entered an age of solution-focused brief therapy, my treatment approach is strength-based and cognitive-behavioral; however, I tailor-fit my treatment approach to each client in order to treat their individual and unique issues. I begin the therapeutic process by taking time to get to know the client and what he or she addresses in the therapy session so I can meet the client where he or she is at, build on strengths the client possesses, and collaboratively develop a treatment plan with the client in order to help him or her move forward. I believe I can help the client using this approach, especially since successful therapy depends on the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist.

Jeff’s great! I took a few months off and when I signed back on, he remembered who I was and remembered what we were talking about. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for great therapy!

Jeffrey has been kind and respectful and talks to me like a person and not necessarily like a patient, which I appreciate. I feel like I’m confiding in a well-educated friend rather than an online counselor I have never met face to face. He has checked in when I haven’t written in a while, and luckily his schedule generally works with mine. I would very highly recommend him.

Jeffrey Steer is an nonjudgemental ear. Literally an ear... Okay not just an ear but he's an ear with a mouth, who knows exactly what to say to me. He's mainly an ear though because of his great ability to listen to you and then with his brain and expertise, he uses his mouth and his words as a conduit to bring specialized help to me. I greatly appreciate the fact that I am not scared to talk to Jeffrey and after every session, I have happier, lighter, and have some sense of direction. Although he is not exactly holding my hand when I throw the bowling ball, he is the guard rails that stop me from going into the gutter.
