About me

I am licensed in Washington with 9 years of professional work experience. I believe that destiny is not something that happens by chance, but is something that happens by choice. And although we can’t control everything, we can control the choices we make. I enjoy working with people to help them understand the choices they make, learn to make better choices, and learn how to better manage the things that can’t be changed. I uses a variety of therapeutic styles beginning with meeting you where you are and understanding where you want to go. I also uses aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness and ecotherapy.

I earned my first Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Interpretation from Prescott College and worked for many years as a naturalist in state parks, national parks, and as a kayak guide in the San Juan Islands. I then went on to get a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Ashford University and my Masters Degree in Counseling from Lewis and Clark College in Portland Oregon. When not working, I enjoy reading, gardening, and exploring the forests and waters of the area, usually with a pair of binoculars.

Can thoroughly discuss things affecting me with an informed and considerate way

Jennifer is extremely insightful, self-aware, and kind. She provides excellent support and maintains respectful direct communication with me. I have worked on only 2 sessions with incredibly sensitive and pivotal subjects that have already had a positive impact on my relationships and my health. I am alive today because of great therapeutic alliances like the one I have with Jennifer. I am grateful beyond measure for good therapy.

Jennifer has given me so many ways to face the challenges and obstacles in my life, to the point that I have more confidence to do things that I didn’t want to or couldn’t do.
