My name is Jetona, but clients can and do call me 'Jet' for short, as it is much more fun and memorable to many! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Kentucky with 12 years of experience working in the helping industry, 10 of those spent in providing direct counseling services to a diverse caseload of clients. I have a unique therapeutic interest in family systemic functioning (i.e. blended family dynamics, military family lifestyle and adjustment, positive parenting, marriage/relationship counseling, non-traditional family structures & adoption issues). Additionally, my experience includes working with individuals struggling with low self-esteem, adjustment disorders/issues, depression, anxiety/stress, OCD, grief related loss & trauma, as well as personality disorders & symptomatology. I've worked with all ages, 6-75 years, and enjoy watching each with navigating their unique life path.
Education is very important to me, as I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, followed by completing my Masters of Science in Counseling with honors less than two years later. As an undergraduate, I was actively involved in academic research and presentation of my work in the field of positive parenting. As a post graduate, I have completed some doctoral work, as well as served in educational training roles regarding adoption. I also currently serve as an appointed member on my state's regulatory licensing board in my field of study.
My theoretical/treatment approach is best described as eclectic, as I focus on combining various techniques and methodologies in the effort to best serve and tailor to my client's individual needs. I view the therapeutic journey as a partnership, where client input and feedback are both necessary and essential for self-growth/development, progress, and goal achievement. Therapies I most frequently incorporate into treatment include person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and solution focused, while also valuing the contributions that positive psychology, mindfulness training, and motivational interviewing provide when indicated as well. My hope is that my adventurous spirit and curious zest for life is transferred during my time and work with others!

Jet has been instrumental to my growth of confidence, courage, and skills with which I was better able to handle my family conflicts. Although things have yet to work out as I hoped, Jet helped me to understand that some things just can't be changed or fixed. Most importantly, this fact is not my fault so I shouldn't harbor guilt for it. It felt like a long mountain climb but Jet was there for me consistently and promptly throughout. It’s hard to even find the right words to truly express what a great therapist Jet is. I’m so thankful I was paired with her. I have come to trust Jet completely and value her counsel immensely. She has given me the safe place I needed to explore my emotions. She has been right there for me as I have struggled with some painful issues. Her messages are very insightful. She makes you think about things and asks questions for you to dig deeper and try to figure things out.
