About Me

I am a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Texas with over 11 years of experience working as a therapist and life coach. Through my private practice and contract work I have worked with a diverse population of clients with a wide range of issues like emotional and physical trauma, anxiety, depression, substance abuse , and ADHD. I also help individuals in a life situation in which they are looking for deeper meaning and searching for their life's purpose as their current course feels empty and devoid of direction. Most often a significant event (death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job, trauma, etc.) has motivated them to find their life's passion. I experienced this at age 48 and left a highly lucrative but mundane restaurant management position to pursue a career in which I could genuinely help and serve others through counseling therapy.

My counseling approach has continued to evolve through the years as my clients (my greatest teachers) have educated me to listen mindfully and tailor my therapeutic plan to their individual needs. I draw from a variety of modalities including cognitive behavioral. client-centered, solution-focused, reality therapy, and energy therapies including the Emotional Freedom Technique. The course of therapy and treatment plan will be customized to your specific and unique needs. I am a strong proponent of meditation and mindfulness and encourage these if the client shows interest.

The fact that you are seeking help shows courage and openness and a desire to change in a meaningful and lasting way that can positively revolutionize and enrich your life. I can assure you that you are worthy of such an endeavor. I have never looked back or regretted any changes that I have undertaken since joining the counseling profession and I would be honored to be your therapist and help you transcend your issues!

I look forward to assist you on your healing journey! Thank you!

Very real and understanding. I felt comfortable right away and the tools and resources I was given helped incredibly.

John is a wonderful councillor. From the get he makes sure to understand where you're most in need and works hard to help alleviate some of that immediately while building a bridge to help you more precisely improve your mental health in the future. I've enjoyed my time with him and look forward to our sessions.

John has lots of life experiences that I can relate to. He is very open about what he himself has gone through and I only see that as a positive thing.

John was helpful and provided good service. He definitely tried his best to help me through a difficult situation with my son. I would definitely recommend John to others.

John is one of a kind! He is very aware, authentic and on point with his observations, he isn’t afraid to hit you with the hard truths - it’s very refreshing. I always look forward to our sessions and come out of them feeling energized and ready to take action. He makes me laugh and helps me put things in perspective allowing me to find clarity and peace even in the hardest situations. I highly recommend John!

I am writing this from Australia. I was reluctant to try 'online therapy' at first, but after a few sessions with John (whom is very patient with my reluctance lol) has proven exactly what I needed to start my healing journey. I have already started to refer friends and family to BetterHelp!

I wouldn't have dreamed I could find a counselor like John. Have only seen him once so not a lot of time to evaluate but I like the way John listens and helps me find solutions for my issues. I like BetterHelp and John so much I immediately bought my son a membership. He's 37 year old and REALLY needs a therapist, but we've never found anyone we liked that we/he could afford. We're both thrilled with BetterHealth. Also seeing the therapist on Zoom is great. Our faces are closer together than they would be in real life and that makes the therapy feel more personal. It's so nice just to walk to my computer for my session, no getting dressed and driving somewhere burning costly gas and parking and getting to the right office. Big stress reducer not to have to do all that.
