About me

I graduated from Alabama State University in 2011 with my MS in Clinical Mental health counseling. I have done a vast amount of work in all treatment modalities as well as various populations. Primarily I have worked with families, in the community, crisis and trauma centered work, as well as substance use and severe mental health illness. My drive in this field is to help individuals who are struggling to mentally get to a place of peace and be that ear that can help one process and sort out whatever struggles they may be facing where accessing family and friends is not an option. My most sought out modes of counseling that I find most effective are solution focused, Cognitive behavior, Motivational interviewing , and person centered. These modalities are typically centered around allowing my client to be heard, as well as creating a space of open dialogue for me to learn more about you, and find root causes of presenting problem and begin to explore ways to help either shift the dynamic or shift the though process of the situation to assist in making life fuller, manageable and peaceful.

Johne is an absolute gem. She listens without judgement and always seems to have the perfect anecdote to help me through whatever issue I present to her. She is patient and kind and takes time to connect with me on a human level while arming me with coping skills and a better understanding of my inner self. Cannot recommend highly enough. I’m eternally grateful for this wonderful human and her talents.

I love Johne! I had never been in therapy before and she really was a breath of fresh air to jump start me into this relationship with normalizing Therapy. She is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend her. She is able to have empathy and understanding about interracial and cultural issues. She allows you to talk and she ask questions that allow you to go deeper. My experience with Johne was so amazing that I encouraged my mom to get into therapy under the same platform here. It is so critical for Black people to have black therapist, I am forever grateful for my experience with Johne. She is a blessing and I pray God's Blessing over her life.
