About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Louisiana with 15 years of experience in the counseling discipline. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of New Orleans in 2005 and subsequently completed my Master of Science in Education in Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling from Hofstra University on Long Island, NY in 2008.

I've been licensed as a mental health professional since 2011 and have extensive experience working with a broad array of mental health concerns. These include working in private practice, non-profit psychiatric rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, and managed care. I am skilled with working with adults as well as families and couples dealing with everything from adjustment-related difficulties coping with change to severe and persistent mental illness including psychosis, panic disorders, and serious mood disorders. I also have specialized training related to employment and career counseling needs as well as issues related to co-occurring physical disabilities and illness.

I typically take a person-centered approach emphasizing mutually agreed upon goals and working together on achieving specific objectives aimed towards making progress towards these goals. I believe a compassionate, understanding, and non-judgmental approach is important to establishing trust and helping you to move forward on the path of wellness.

Working with Josh is easy. He’s a good guy, easy to talk to, and has great perspectives on things. Working with him feels like a natural conversation with someone who is helpful and smart and who is interested in you becoming your best version of yourself.

Probably the best therapist I've had.

Joshua is a great therapist. He always listens and helps me reflect and find solutions to things that may be bothering me. He gives me tools to use in day-to-day life so that I can gain control of my emotions and navigate the difficulties without him. He is always there if I need him.

I enjoyed my first session with Joshua. It was helpful for my immediate problems and I look forward to continuing with him over time to dive deeper into some other issues I have. Joshua was knowledgeable, personable, caring, and orientated towards my goals.

Josh has been incredibly helpful in individual sessions. He listens analyzes and responds to what I say, even when it's not exactly answering the question he just asked. He is very communicative about his own mental state which has been a great example for myself to emulate to those I care for in my personal life as well. I'm very happy with Josh's work, and the work he has helped me do in our time together.
