Hello and welcome to BetterHelp! I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about me. My name is Karen and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. I have 19 years experience working in Mental Health. I currently work in a private practice outside of Pittsburgh. Although I have experience working with teenagers and their families in the past, I primarily work with adults and couples.
I believe taking care of our emotional health is just as important as taking care of our physical health. One can affect the other. Going to see a therapist, should be just as natural as going to see your primary doctor. Sometimes we don’t realize how our thoughts, our work, and our interactions with friends and family can have an impact on how we feel. I can help you explore this. I use a variety of strategies in therapy depending on the client and the problem. I have experience working with clients that struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem and family issues. I’m glad that you have taken this step to access our site so you can explore therapy and can begin to feel better.

Karen listened to me and allowed me to be my vulnerable, authentic self. She has given me practice exercises to do throughout my day when I have an anxiety attack. She really listens and cares for you. Even after one session I learned more about how to control my anxiety and cope with my thought patterns. I can’t thank her enough and would highly recommend!

Karen and my husband were the only ones who understood what I was trying to say. If it wasn’t for Karen, I’d be medicated and never would have known what I was trying to say. She listens and gets to the root of the problem. She never judges, she really seems to care. I’m so thankful for her. Highly recommend, she’s amazing.

To clarify, Karen is a 10/10, but she's my second therapist. The first one missed a scheduled session and disappeared. That's pretty damaging, so that's why I dropped the overall score to an 8. But I appreciated the support team to match me with Karen.

It has only been a couple of weeks but I can't tell you how much I appreciate that Karen checks in with me a few times a week. I was telling my friends and they were saying how their therapists never check in on them or contact them between appointment times. For the first time I feel like I may actually stick with therapy.
