About Me

Welcome to the Better Help Community. Thank you for trusting us to help you. My name is Kristin Scott-Groves and I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in Colorado, South Carolina, Florida, and Virginia. I have worked as a clinical therapist and college professor, teaching psychology of lifespan development. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master of Social Work degree. I currently hold a certification as a Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP) and a certification in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (C-DBT). I have worked with different populations including military members and their families, as well as children, adolescents, and teenagers. My experience includes working with individuals with anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress, relationship issues, self-esteem, parenting, and adjustment to change.

My approach to therapy is client centered. You are the expert on your life and you determine the direction and depth of therapy. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, I help guide clients in identifying strengths and developing treatment plans that accomplish their goals. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I assist clients in exploring relationships among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This can help clients find the unhelpful and unhealthy thought patterns as well as learn healthier ways of thinking.

I applaud you for taking the first step in better health. I know that starting something new can be scary. If you are ready to take the next step in making healthy changes in your life, I will work with you on your path to success.

Absolutely fantastic lady. She is caring and listens until you run out of breath. Gives realistic advice and evaluation on thoughts and feelings on a certain situation. She helps put life in perspective and teaches about cognitive distortions.

I started therapy knowing I had some thoughts an feelings I wanted to work through but not knowing how it would go. I’m so grateful BetterHelp matched me with Kristin. She’s compassionate and thoughtful and makes me feel seen and heard. I’ve learned new ways to see myself as well as process my thoughts and feelings, all of which have helped me move through life in a more positive way. My experience with Kristin has been wonderful—everything I hoped therapy would be.

Kristin has been amazing! She has been a really great match for me and her skillset really speaks to what I need. Kirstin has helped me understand where I have been stuck and shared some tools and ideas with me on how to move forward with clarity and control. I love that she is approachable and has a great sense of humor, honest and supportive. These are really nice additional qualities as they are key in my own ability to feel comfortable with her and to be in a safe 'space' discussing my process and situation.

Kristin,
Thank you for helping me navigate through this long journey in my life. Our sessions have provided me with a different understanding of the complexity of human interactions with one another, and the goals of what I should achieve both in the long and short terms. I appreciate your kindness and the approach you have taken to guide me in finding myself and my family. Thank you!

Kristin is a great counselor. I really like how she repeats back what I’m saying at times to know that we’re on the same page. She is also very encouraging.

When I first spoke to a counselor at Betterhelp, I was skeptical because she didn't seem like she knew the information she should know in order to help me get over my hurdles.

Then I transferred to Kristin and in just one session, she made me feel 10x more confident in my ability to handle stress and anxiety. She is kind, patient, understanding, a good listener, and addresses my concerns and needs in a professional, timely, and empathetic manner. She truly is a blessing.
