Senia Wood, BACP
About me
Hello, my name is Senia,
I know what it is like to be thinking about seeking professional help. It takes a lot of strength to admit that you need support. It needs immense bravery to open up and start working through your worries, difficult emotions and life complications. Getting help today is your first step towards a change that is meaningful to you, even though this may initially seem a very intimidating experience.
My aim as a counsellor is to build a trusting, safe relationship where thoughts and feelings can be shared without judgment. Honesty, trust and compassion are the three elements of a healing relationship. Being unconditionally accepted, understood and connected to others can have a profound effect on your health.
My approach is not medical or diagnostic-oriented. Rather it is kind, human, intuitive and respectful. I would like to make our online sessions a valuable experience for you where you can feel secure and grounded.
I am a fully qualified Therapeutic Counsellor and a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). For you this means that I am accountable, committed to the values of high-quality service and work ethically towards your best benefits.
My practice is working as an integrative counsellor with a humanistic approach. My belief is that each of us is an individual and unique in our own right. The therapy I offer reflects upon this and I will be tailoring our sessions to your needs. I will work in partnership with you at your own pace, allowing you the time to express yourself freely within the session.
I am a genuine, warm, empathetic and caring therapist. I look at a person as a whole, considering their emotional, physical, mental health and social environment. To ensure full understanding I will be seeking your feedback to validate that your expectations are met whilst we work together. I will be listening to you carefully without directing you and treating you with kindness and respect to your choices.
I have had the opportunity to live and study internationally within different cultures. As a result, I relate to people from varying backgrounds and values with sincere empathy and acceptance. I offer profound sensitivity to issues of diversity, race and cultural integration. I have a strong value within me to be truthful and approachable and I am also very open minded.
I have worked with many clients over four years, offering help to those suffering from anxiety, depression, stress, emotional dysregulation, relationship problems, co-dependency, sexuality, divorce, self-esteem, loss and bereavement, problems raised by addiction and abuse and much more. Some of my expertise includes working with trauma-orientated issues, where I utilise different modalities to treat the outcomes of developmental trauma, adverse childhood experiences, sexual abuse, life-threatening accidents and injuries or other traumatic events.
My aim is to support you in becoming your true self and be able to develop your fullest potential without fear and anxiety. I am here to help empower you to make your own decisions, and to encourage finding a way to live a better, healthier, happier life.
I look forward to working with you!

Senia is very good, I would highly recommend her. She is very attentive and insightful. She has always discussed the plan with me and never imposed it, which I greatly appreciated, because every person is different and one method of counselling may not be effective on everyone. She always took the time to discuss the therapy goals, explain the approach, ask for permission before beginning and/or continuing. I have gained a lot of tools from her which I will use in daily life and on my journey of self-healing and self-care.

Senia is a truly supportive and caring person. She is very perceptive, a great listener and has a wealth of experience and insights from her own life as well as many external resources she is happy to share. She is non judgmental and very open to share for instance how different methods in therapy work in order to build trust. I am very happy I got to work with her and can wholeheartedly recommend.

I found Senia's expertise and experience well balanced with my therapy needs. In addition to listening to my issues, she offered many insights/perspectives during our sessions as well as research articles that I found extremely relevant and helpful throughout the week in between our sessions. I absolutely recommend her. Thank you!
