About me

Hello, Welcome!

My name is Linda Smiley and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Before, I went back to college to get my Masters Degree. I had 10 years of experience as a Case Manager for clients that had a severe mental illness. I decided that I wanted to do more, so I went back to school in order to get my Master's Degree as a mental health therapist. I graduated from Lindsey Wilson in 2013 and for the past 11 years I have been working with clients that are dealing with depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, and psychosis. I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma and/ or emotional abuse as well as traumatic concerns that have increased due to the pandemic. My goal is to be here to assist you in processing your feelings in a safe, judgment free environment.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach is primarily person centered but I also utilize motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and solution focused interventions andCognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for psychosis (CBTp) . I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

I realize it is difficult to reach out in order to talk to a complete stranger about your deepest darkest secrets, feelings, and concern. It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone but if you are reading this then you are taking your first step to having a more fulfilling and happier life. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you. You are in the driver seat of your treatment. I am the passenger in this journey.

I look forward to working with you!

I have just started with Linda so I would prefer to do a review of her after we have had a few sessions. But so far she is very pleasant, understanding, and compassionate. I look forward to working with her further

Linda is an incredible therapist. She is a wonderful listener and is very knowledgeable, but what I love most about her is how it feels like you are talking with a friend. She has helped me through so much and I will always be thankful for BetterHelp!

Linda was my 1st therapist officially. There was a bit of a gap in our sessions due to my employment transition. Now that we have resumed our sessions, it has confirmed with me that she truly understands me. She listens and offers advice that is practical for my personal situation. I was very happy that I could resume my psychotherapy with the same person.
