L M (Loretta) Hartley-Bangs, LISW
I am Loretta Hartley-Bangs and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Clinical practice in South Carolina.
My career in social work began over 30 years ago as a medical social worker in a community hospital. My practice moved into
Behavioral Health and Chemical Dependency and I have been fortunate to work on inpatient behavioral health units as well as
outpatient programs. In addition to my clinical work I have been an adjunct professor of social work, teaching in both undergraduate
and graduate programs.
My practice has afforded me the opportunity to work with individuals, families, couples and groups from diverse backgrounds. My perspective and practice is
informed by an understanding of systems and families. This enables me to understand the individual and the impact of their own system or family.
I understand the courage it takes for an individual or family to seek help and respect the level of readiness of each person.

She’s like talking to my best friend’s mom. I was considering quitting therapy before coming to her as I just could never get the words out that I wanted to and left sessions feeling exhausted. Now, Loretta knows exactly how to ask questions that get me talking naturally and helps me come to my own resolutions without losing all energy. I genuinely enjoy therapy now because of her.

Loretta has been absolutely amazing. Sometimes she's just listening and affirming my feelings and other times she's asking questions and making me look into myself in ways I hadn't thought of. I always leave our sessions feeling better.
