About me

The journey for healing always starts with you and wherever you are in life! My philosophy is to actively listen, and to provide a compassionate and confidential safe space to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. I am passionate about giving and enhancing hope in others by helping my clients discover the answers within. I use an eclectic approach with my practice, as I am fully aware and respect the uniqueness of all my individual clients.
Maria E. Tapia received her Master's Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Child and Family Therapy from New york University in 1998. She obtained her undergraduate Bachelor degree in Social Work from Seton Hall University as part of a dual degree program in 1996. Maria has almost 25 years of clinical experienced gained through various mental health agencies, including Family Intervention Services and Family Connections in New Jersey . Her experience includes crisis work with families of all types, including foster and adoptive families. She has been providing crisis and assessment services to children, adolescents and families throughout New Jersey through the Division of Children and Families for over 12 years. Maria has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2002. Presently, Maria works as a bilingual School Social Worker for the past 11 years.
