About Me

My background is in working with the chronically mentally ill (schizophrenia/bipolar disorder.) I am very recovery oriented meaning I enjoy helping people with serious mental illness gain their optimal level of functioning and find the support in their communities. I work a lot with crisis management doing assessments in local ER's to determine need for emergency admission and safety planning. I also enjoy working with family members of people that are in recovery for a serious mental illness. I am a veteran and can work with veterans.

I have been a social worker in the field of mental health for 35 plus years but more importantly I am a spouse, mother, sibling and co worker. I have experienced a lot including severe mental illness with a sibling, drug addiction with a family member, LGBTQ and teenage years. These are all people I love and have learned that life comes at people of all walks of life and I am very non judgmental because of that. I am good at putting myself in others shoes and have experienced first hand the stigma, stereotypes and misinformation people from all walks of like can encounter.

My approach to helping others is to listen and explore current and past history to help gain insight and put problem solving, client-centered solutions into place. I am seen as having a calming influence on others and generally am able to get others to open up and share their concerns. I am a very open transparent person and I look forward to working with people from all walks of life. Please consider me in your selection of a therapist and I will work hard to assist you in overcoming hardships and obstacles to reach a happier more fulfilling place in your life.

I have not been the most reliable for making all of my sessions with Mary, and she has shown so much patience and understanding that I really feel compelled to come back to her when I can make a booking. Any time I have spoken with her, I have come away feeling more certain of myself and with higher confidence that I will make it through the week. Mary has been an amazing communicator for me and I just feel very lucky to have found a therapist that I can fully share all my concerns and darkest thoughts. I feel safe. Thank you, Mary - you've been really helping me through this.

Mary is one of the most professional and compassionate therapist I’ve ever come in contact with. She loves to listen to, offer insight, and gives me tools to work on things I struggle with. I really value a therapist that takes the time to really get to know my case even if that’s a few sessions, which Mary has done. I highly recommend her for future individuals seeking help!

Mary is literally outstanding! She wants to understand your thoughts and feelings about whatever you’re going through and she’s great to work with! Her approach may seem slow to start with, but it gives her the knowledge she needs to help you out. I couldn’t ask for anyone better than Mary, she’s been on my side since day one and with her help I know I can accomplish anything

Written by L.O. on Aug 20, 2021 after therapy with Mary for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, grief, and coping with life changes

I feel that Mary listens to my concerns. Mary understands the areas in which I struggle but she doesn't let me languish there. She is good at listening to me but also pointing out why my thinking may not be rational. I believe, on some level, I know that but having someone point it out helps me to look at the situation differently.

Couldn't have asked for a better counselor to have been paired with. I've felt comfortable from the beginning. If you have reservations about speaking with a counselor; I have to say you should push yourself to do it. The only regret to have is not checking in on yourself from a professional view. Thank you Mary for making me feel at ease and being so prompt and personable. Always checking in with no pressure for me to be prompt in my returned response.

Work with me!
