About me

My name is Matthew Johnson III, LCSW BACS. I have been a social worker for 24 years. I've been an LCSW for 20 year. My experiences are in addictions and bereavement, which help me to work with anxiety, depression, PTSD, Trauma, and family issues. My approach is a client centered approach, and I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with a process oriented clinical environment to allow you to feel comfortable expressing your feelings, having your thoughts and feelings validated and then getting constructive feedback, by working collaboratively with you to help you resolve your current struggles. Our sessions will also help you to grow emotionally by learning to process your negative feelings appropriately, learn better coping strategies to help you thrive and most importantly to help you in your the process of transformation. This is becoming the person that you want to be. I have experience working with individuals, couples and families. As you learn to change how you think, feel and act, you will change yourself and hence change your world for the better. I look forward to working with you to help accomplish your life goals.

I’m very satisfied

Written on Apr 03, 2024 after therapy with Matthew for 3 weeks on issues concerning addictions, relationship issues, grief, intimacy-related issues, self esteem, bipolar disorder, and coping with life changes

I took a hiatus due to money problems but I’m so glad to be back and still have Matthew as my therapist. He seems to truly care about his patients and my wellbeing and my family. He doesn’t make me feel judged, he makes me feel heard. I can’t thank betterhelp or Matthew enough . Even though I’ve just started therapy again I already feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders just knowing I can message him anytime and he always gets back to me in no more than 1 day, and I’m forever grateful for that!

Wow, so thankful for Matthew Johnson! He listens attentively and truly cares. I like to use the journal a lot to help me think things out and see things when I am not in a crisis mode with emotions. It helps me to reflect back so that I can see myself as a spectator. Matthew always provides valuable feedback to my journal entries. I am very comfortable to be open with him as I can see his sincere passion to help a person develop CBT skills via therapy and understand our intrinsic value.

Matthew puts me at ease when discussing difficult relational situations and gives practical ways to make my marriage better. I've seen many therapists over the past 30 years and he is my favorite.

Matthew is resourceful, empathetic, and pours out so much warmth and knowledge concerning substance abuse and bereavement. He has truly helped me during a rough season and has given me tools to manage any emotion that comes my way.
