About me
Hello, all!
I am licensed in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Ohio with over 11 years of professional work experience in the field of psychotherapy. I have experience in helping clients with anxiety, addiction, grief and loss, depression, self -esteem issues, and non-acceptance of the here-and-now. My therapy style combines mainly Gestalt therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solutions-Focused Therapy. Concepts from other types of therapy are used as well.
To be human means to suffer, at least some of the time. But you don't have to go it alone. I am here to assist you in your journey to self-growth and a greater sense of peace. I can help you gain self-awareness so that you can take down those barriers that have kept you from making and achieving your goals. Miriam (Kate) is very kind and helpful. She listens carefully and is friendly, even lightheartedly telling jokes to keep the levity of the conversations we've had. But, she takes her job seriously and will offer solutions and different ways of phrasing words and sentences to make my points and concerns have more of an impact, or reflect what I am "really" trying to get across. She offers homework, and encourages journal writing. The best thing about her, in my opinion, is her ability to really listen to my concerns. And I am not afraid to tell her about personal things that I struggle with. I just needed someone to listen to me, so I can get out of my own head, and I believe Miriam does a great job with this. I can trust telling her about the stuff that flows through my mind.
