Nicholas Bloodworth, LMFT
About me
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist with approximately 15 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges and create meaningful change. I hold a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Master of Arts in Psychology, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of clinical and leadership settings, including private practice, community mental health, higher education, and residential psychiatric treatment. I have served as a clinical and program director for a psychiatric residential treatment facility and as the Director of Counseling at Campbellsville University. These experiences have given me the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and at various stages of life.
My primary areas of specialization include marriage and family therapy, couples counseling, relationship concerns, depression, anxiety, life transitions, communication difficulties, and family conflict. I particularly enjoy helping couples better understand the patterns that keep them feeling disconnected, improve communication, rebuild trust, and develop healthier and more fulfilling relationships.
I also have extensive training and experience in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, trauma, and complex mental health concerns. I am a trained QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) suicide prevention instructor and have completed training in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and CAMS (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality). My additional clinical training includes Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp), and specialized work related to domestic violence. I am also a certified Batterer Intervention Provider.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. I believe therapy works best when you feel heard and respected while also being appropriately challenged to examine patterns, develop new perspectives, and take meaningful steps toward the changes you want to make. Rather than assuming that one approach works for everyone, I work to understand your individual experiences, relationships, strengths, and goals and tailor treatment accordingly.
Reaching out for counseling can sometimes feel difficult, particularly when you have been carrying concerns for a long time. Whether you are struggling individually, experiencing challenges in your relationships, or simply recognizing that something in your life needs to change, my goal is to provide a supportive space where we can understand what is happening and work together toward a healthier way forward.
I look forward to working with you.
