About me

I am a qualified counsellor with several years counselling experience. I trained as a humanistic/ existential counsellor.
I believe in working holistically, encompassing the whole client, psychologically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I do not believe a person is their diagnosis, or their problems, instead I prefer to focus on the person as a unique individual with life experiences. My role is to support them as they find ways to live with, manage or overcome any issues they may be experiencing.
I believe in person centred care, which places each and every client at the centre of their care.
I am an integrative counsellor, utilising Person-Centred Therapy, and elements of DBT, Transactional Analysis, CBT, Existential Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy, and Feminist Therapy, which are adapted to each client. I am also LGBT aware, trauma informed and multiculturally aware. This means that you receive therapy tailored for you and your needs.
I predominantly work with addiction and recovery, and have experience working with ADHD and neurodiversity, domestic abuse, trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, kleptomania, hoarding, loss and grief, boundary setting, communication problems, and self-harm.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in the care industry for over 28 years, in various settings from, elderly care to working with long term institutionalised mental health care. I believe that this has afforded me with a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with people, and the ability to build effective working therapeutic relationships.
Taking the first step in seeking therapy can be daunting, and takes courage on your part, so well done in taking that step, I look forward to working with you, and feel privileged to be a part of your journey.

I've had many therapists over the years so was skeptical about what more could be done for me but I like how Nina gives me space to explore things like a real person. I've had a lot of therapy that feels like they are just ticking exercises off a list but Nina lets me move between different areas as needed while helping me to ground myself and giving me exercises that are manageable between our sessions. I'm already feeling an impact and am looking forward to where we go next.

Nina is a consummate professional. She possesses an extraordinary ability to listen—not just hear, but truly listen—with a kind of empathy and understanding that is exceedingly rare. Her years of experience are clearly evident in how she navigates each session, yet she carries none of the haughtiness. She approaches each session with a fresh perspective, never relying on a one-size-fails-all methodology.

What stands out most about Nina is her authentic compassion. She has this innate ability to make you feel seen, heard, and valued. She has a wonderful knack for striking a balance between validating your feelings and challenging you to confront uncomfortable truths. I never felt judged; instead, I felt empowered to open up layers of myself I didn’t even know existed.

She employs a range of techniques and tools, from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to mindfulness exercises, all of which are tailored to your unique needs and challenges. Her expertise isn't rigid or confined to textbooks; it's flexible, adaptive, and deeply rooted in a holistic understanding of human psychology.

I'm very happy that I was matched with Nina and I'm sure that anyone similar to me would too

Nina is a very gentle, warm support, who I felt really listened to me. In a short space of time she gave me strength and support to change issues in my life which were making me unhappy, and I will continue to build on the skills she has taught me.
