Dr. Paul Wright

(PhD, LPC, NBCCH)

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Missouri. For over ten years, I have been offering counseling and life coaching services to individuals, couples, and families. Some of my specializations include working with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, emotional trauma, work-related problems, arousal dysregulation, OCD issues, self-sabotaging thought processes, clinical mental health issues, career struggles, and many other significant life challenges. As a mental health specialist and performance consultant, I also enjoy the challenge of working with athletes, businessmen/women, musicians, teachers, artists, and members of the military forces.

My professional orientation centers on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and solution-focused counseling. I believe that therapy is much like a beautiful choreographed dance step. Client and counselor work together to achieve success through a reciprocal relationship built upon respect, trust, and positivity. Entering into the counseling relationship takes extraordinary courage and strength of character. I pride my practice on being welcoming, positive, genuine, and client-centered. This responsibility to help my clients is a sacred trust not taken lightly.

Counseling sessions are generally a combination of talk therapy, discussion, problem-solving exercises, and experiential activities designed specifically to help each client overcome their unique challenges. Some of the tools used in the counseling process include mindfulness training, cognitive reframing, goal setting, positive self-talk, communication skill building, introspection, motivational interviewing, and traditional narrative discourse. In addition to the more traditional approaches, I carry specializations and certifications in performance psychology, clinical hypnotherapy, wellness coaching, and career counseling. I have spent many years living in Europe, Asia, and North America. As such, I enjoy the opportunity to work with clients from very diverse backgrounds.

I truly look forward to working beside you through the counseling relationship. I truly count it as an honor and a privilege to share your life experience.

He’s openminded and he would let you talk everything out and start giving you ways on how to cope with these things.

He’s a good listener too, I would recommend him to anyone in need.

I am going through major changes in my life. Dr Wright has been very supportive and understanding. He spent the time to reply to my journal, which helped me on the day to day basis, while offers insightful guidance through our conversations. It has only been less than two weeks. I am glad that I was matched with Dr Wright. I am grateful for the support.

Dr. Wright is the BEST! I couldn't have received a better Doctor. He has truly helped me. After our first video call I was crying to my husband. Not due to feeling helpless but due to him making me feel normal & that he was with me 110%. He not only listens but gives me tools to use every day! If you want the right counselor, Dr. Wright is it!

Dr. wright has only been my counsellor for just over a week now and already has really helped me to find a little bit of hope again in myself! He gives me the sense that he knows what he’s talking about and is very experienced. He’s great at putting himself into others shoes and gives really good constructive feedback/ advice. I did not feel comfortable about seeking counseling at first because to be it’s a very daunting experience, however dr. Wright was very supportive and I can say that so far my experience having counseling has been very positive. Definitely recommend:)

Dr. Wright is very attentive, affirmation, and excellent at asking questions! I’m amazed in our short time of communication so far, how well he seems to understand me and gives feedback in a way that clicks on a personal level. I feel very safe with him.
