About me
Hello, my name is Rachel. I am here to help you with concerns in your life that are causing you conflict or uneasiness. Most of the time when we feel down, anxious, frustrated, or irritated it is because something does not feel right to us in our life. It might be that we want something to happen and it is taking too long or that there always seems to be a barrier in our way. Or, something is happening and we want it to stop yet do not know how.
Either way, I am here to listen to you, never judge you, and offer open and honest conversations that will help you resolve the issue. Each session will help you identify, unravel, understand, offer perspectives, and help you get closer to the goals you have in mind, goals that will help you feel the best you can.
I have been practicing counseling with adults for seventeen years, covering a wide range of topics and concerns, offering ways to improve the situation based on preference, time, and abilities. I use a relaxed approach to get to know you and what is important for you; open communication, genuineness, and honesty are key to all successes in therapy. Additionally, I have been an instructor and assistant professor for 16 years teaching many course subjects in psychology with several state colleges; I have much insight into the issues of college students.
My education is extensive; I graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Master’s of Science in Psychology focusing on mental health. Loving the field of psychology, I continued my education through a doctoral program focusing on counseling psychology, health psychology, and neuroscience at Walden University. The health focus allows me to address topics of bodily pain and chronic conditions that may cause interference with your quality of living. Although I completed all of my coursework, I am taking my time working on my dissertation. Currently I am working on certifications in neurofeedback, grief counseling, and DBT.
What is it like to collaborate with me in counseling? I am easy to talk with, base information shared in sessions on several strong theories in counseling, offer multiple forms of self-help tools to help you process and practice information learned in session in between our times together, and have extensive experience across many subjects (issues, concerns). Although I believe in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a foundation for therapy, I am flexible in my approach to suit each client specifically, individually.
I truly look forward to meeting you, getting to know you, and how I can assist you in changing things in your life so that you feel renewed, empowered, and balanced!

Rachel is wonderful and very helpful!
I made an error on one of the questions, I give Rachel a 10/10 on all grounds, she's very open-minded and accepting of any challenges that I've felt were too much to handle and Rachel has helped me get my life a little bit more on track
Perfect match for me, I think she’s wonderful! Thank you!

Best therapist I've ever had. Listens well, so educated and knowledgeable. I honestly never think I'll get such a great therapist over an app. Highly recommend

Purely amazing!
Since our first appointment, Rachel has been excellent. She provides incredible insight, is very understanding and intelligent, and is always willing to go above and beyond to share her knowledge and resources. I feel very comfortable with her, and am thankful to have been paired with her!
I could not recommend Rachel enough. Rachel is the most caring, understanding, empathetic counselor. I cannot wait for my sessions with Rachel as she makes me feel more confident bout myself and my choices/decisions. Thank you, Rachel.
She's fantastic!
Rachel Black is the absolute best counselor I think I've ever had in my life , and this is my first time talking with a counselor online. Even tho I've always felt like younger therapists understand me better , I feel like she ALWAYS gives me good, helpful advice. This is the first time in over 12 years of therapy that I ALWAYS feel relieved and less worried after a session.
I am extremely satisfied with BetterHelp and the counselor I was assigned.
Rachel has been great. I saw the ads and wanted the freedom to confide with someone wherever I was. I was connected with Rachel based on my answers and couldn't be happier. She has helped and continues to help me find what is really important to me and provides honest, non-judgmental feedback. I really look forward to speaking and writing to her.
Our sessions bring me the sense of hope that not everything is lost in the world
She's really nice. She's genuinely thoughtful, and tries her best to help. She doesn't make you feel bad, but kind of like you were silly to think anything bad about yourself in the first place. Shes just a really nice lady.
She is amazing. Very easy to talk to. Has a lot of insight and knowledge to help you through anything. ❤️
