My name is Rick Gantt. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - Supervisor in the commonwealth of Kentucky. I have over 20 years of experience working as a mental health counselor and have a very diverse set of experiences through the years with preferences in bipolar and mood issues, grief and mourning, anger issues, couples counseling and past traumas. I also have considerable experience working with substance and dual diagnosis. I prefer an adolescent through adult and even geriatric clientele. I am experienced and do care about those that I work with and enjoy seeing my clients succeed.
I am an eclectic therapist which basically means that I use what I see is most effective for the Client. Much of what we will talk about will be Gestalt therapy which attempts to help you be empowered to learn to make your own decisions and help to find the sources of issues within your past. CBT and behavioral therapies are always useful in helping to see that by changing these thoughts you can easily change behaviors that follow. I also use some psychoanalytic to help to see the influence that development has had on current thoughts and emotions. And finally, Client centered which helps in creating an environment for learning.

Rick's calming and cool demeanor makes coming back weekly a bit easier than previous therapists. He is great at asking the questions that I don't want to answer but force me to reexamine my thoughts and feelings without making me feel negative or guilty for being human.

Rick helped me so much. I picked him because I trusted the reviews that were so thoughtful of him. He was everything and beyond. I was at a major low point and he truly lifted me through listening and walking me through my feelings and decisions. Thank you Rick!

Rick knows his stuff. He is helping me differentiate between guilt and shame and I feel myself becoming less weighed down by shame. I am developing some greater level of self-esteem and even setting right some of the harms from my past that have been producing shame in my life. If you too struggle in this way, Rick would be a great resource to help you overcome your past so you can live more fully in the present!

Rick has been a pleasure to work with over the past year. His ability to help me navigate emotions that tend to send me spiraling into an anxious loop is what makes him so special. His empathy and blended approach towards getting me from an anxious spiral to making incremental progress daily to the goals we set made our time working together excellent.
Reflecting on our year working together, every goal I set out with at the beginning of our time working together was achieved. Rick has proven to be one of the most important people in my emotional growth.

Rick was an amazing therapist and just a great person to talk to. It was very easy to open up to him and he enabled me to think about specific behaviors that were hurting me. He guided me on how to identify situations and behaviors that were negative and put me in a position to manage them better. This was my first attempt at therapy and I probably could not have gained what I did with any other therapist. Rick was always interested in my culture and background and was very patient. I would definitely recommend him to anyone but unfortunately my time with him had to come to an end. Wish you the best, Rick.

Rick is a great listener, clear in what he says, kind, helpful and very patient. In that 4 sessions we had together, we set goals and he helped me see what needed to be done to achieve those goals. I was able to improve my relationships and be comfortable with who I am. It would not have been possible without these sessions. I know what I need to be working on to reduce anxiety and improve my relationships now and because of the practical suggestions he gave me, I find it possible. I am extremely thankful to Rick for having a positive impact on my life. I would look for Rick for future therapy sessions too!
