About me

Hello! I am Dr. Rose. I am a psychologist with 15 years of experience providing therapy services. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Cincinnati VA Medical Hospital and obtained my graduate education from Indiana State University. I am dually licensed in Wisconsin and Indiana. While residing in Indiana, I worked in a very rural and low income area. I am currently based in Wisconsin, where I have the opportunity to work with individuals from both the more populated areas, as well as the rural areas. Additionally, I am based along the I94 corridor, so I have an interest in providing treatment to individuals who are victims of sex trafficking. Other populations I have a strong interest in working with are the LGBTQ+ population, specifically transgender individuals. I also work with individuals with depression, Bipolar, anxiety, ADHD, anger, trauma, self-esteem, and relationship problems. In my work with individuals, I find that it can often be helpful to explore the impact that the childhood upbringing and nuclear family has on present problems and relationships. I typically use an eclectic approach in sessions, adopting a variety of techniques. Some techniques I typically use are Psychodynamic, mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-centered Therapy. However, I most often use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.

My therapeutic approach is first, and foremost, to be real. You can always expect that I will give you honest and direct answers. I am a caring provider and I want you to succeed in being the best person you can be. I will work closely with you as a team to help you accomplish your treatment goals.

Offers great advice and different way of handling and over coming stress, anxiety, and trama. Listens and gives feed back. Responds in a timely manner and is great with the video sessions.

Prior to seeking help, I had been having long-term issues with my gender identity, coming out, and feeling like my experiences and feelings weren't valid. She was incredibly helpful in respectfully but efficiently analyzing my history and feelings, providing a (hugely reaffirming) diagnosis, and building my confidence while getting me on the right track to begin my transition.

Finding help for LGBTQIA+ issues can be incredibly scary because there are a lot of mental help professionals out there who can be actively harmful to people in such a vulnerable state. This was a big fear of mine when seeking help, but Dr. Fernandez very quickly established herself as an invaluable ally and source of stability to help me find my feet amidst all my confusion and self-doubt.

Although I have only had a few talks with Dr. Fernandez, I immediately felt at ease with her and I recognized that she was trying to help me right away. It felt great to have her in my corner.

Dr Fernandez has helped me grow as a person so much over the past 7 months. I have been going through some stuff lately (similar to what I was going through last year when I started therapy) and I am able to see how much stronger I am mentally over just a few months. She understands that sometimes I need to just talk about everyday challenges but also get deeper when needed, and she always provides helpful and useful prompts to deal with my issues. I can't recommend Dr Fernandez enough.

Dr Fernandez is a great listener. Definitely could give more feedback into concerns and issues. She typically doesn’t give feedback unless it’s asked for. Otherwise she’s a calming peaceful person. Sessions with her could be more structured though.
