Welcome! Are you struggling with problems you can’t seem to manage? Are you having thoughts, feelings or impulses that distress and overwhelm you? I can help you. With more than 25 years of experience as a cognitive-behavioral therapist, I can offer you concrete, evidenced-based strategies for improving your life and achieving your desired outcomes.
One thing I’ve observed over the years is that people often agonize over whether they really need professional help. We all want to feel like we can do it on our own. You may feel intimidated or somehow inadequate when you consider seeking the assistance of a counselor. Don't. In reality strong and capable adults seek assistance regularly. You probably wouldn’t even consider fixing your car or your broken arm without the help of a professional and you’d feel just fine about doing so. Your mental health is no different. High functioning people ask for help when they need it. Sometimes they ask for help just because it makes it easier and faster to accomplish their goals. Like many of life’s hardest tasks, addressing mental health difficulties sooner rather than later usually means avoiding prolonged and unnecessary suffering.
My approach to counseling is collaborative, non-judgmental, supportive and results oriented. Together we can identify your goals and establish specific strategies to help you achieve them.
My professional experience began at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD in the Intensive Psychiatric Services program. Since then, my time has been divided between private practice and hospitals. As is common in these settings, I have extensive experience treating mood, anxiety and addictions as well as people coping with major life changes. Please, don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you believe you could benefit from an expert’s help. You deserve to be the best you can be.

I cannot say enough good things about Samantha. I always feel better after talking with her - I never feel unheard, I never feel like there’s a miscommunication… I always feel respected and like I’m not broken, just needing some help and guidance.
She’s the best and she’s mine!!
Samantha is a wonderful therapist. She offers a non judgmental listening ear as well as helpful insight. She’s skilled at pointing out patterns of thought and behavior that I hadn’t been able to recognize myself. I’ve greatly appreciated my time with her.
Very understanding and extremely helpful when it come to any questions I may have.

Samantha Schwartz is incredible. We talked about a large range of things and worked weekly to reach my goals. It was really important to me during the pandemic to have someone to listen and offer me guidance and Samantha was exactly the professional response I needed.
Samantha is kind and encouraging. She helps me understand and process parts of my life that seem very complicated. With her help I, often see how simple they are. Best of all she gives me tools to help me work through those things, so I can interrupt my own destructive cycles. I am so thankful for her.
Very understanding and open to talk about self diagnosis research done by patient. Very experienced.
Samantha is great! We instantly felt like old friends.
She’s amazing never thought of seeking therapy but it was the best decision
Very nice therapist, knowledgeable and respectful
This is my first time in therapy and Samatha makes it comfortable for me.
Has helped me develop into a better version of me.
Samantha has only been helping me for a few weeks, but I don't know how I would be able to manage so much without her help. She listens to me but she also responds with advice that isn't pointless where you would normally roll your eyes if someone else said it. She is genuine with her words and gentle with every approach. She asks questions and makes me feel listened. She has become a huge support system during a tragically eventful season.
