Shaa Marcum, LICSW
About me
As a Licensed Therapist serving West Virginia, I specialize in supporting individuals navigating complex emotional and psychological challenges. My clinical focus includes depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use disorders, with additional expertise in addressing social anxiety, isolation, communication difficulties, and mood-related concerns.
I utilize an integrative, evidence-based approach tailored to each individual’s needs, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)—in which I am certified. This combination allows for both structured skill-building and deeper emotional processing to support meaningful, lasting change.
My therapeutic style is compassionate, collaborative, and attuned to the unique experiences of each client. I provide a safe, supportive environment where individuals can explore their emotional landscape, process difficult experiences, and develop practical strategies for managing distress. I am particularly sensitive to the needs of older adults and individuals adjusting to life transitions, medical challenges, or changes in independence.
In our work together, I focus on helping clients strengthen emotional regulation, improve interpersonal effectiveness, and build resilience. Whether addressing panic symptoms, trauma-related distress, or relational difficulties, my goal is to support clients in developing insight, enhancing coping skills, and fostering a greater sense of stability, connection, and overall well-being.
