I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed by the state of Michigan. I have over 25 years of experience counseling clients, with depression, anxiety, life changes, lifestyle adjustments, trauma, and grief/loss. I have worked in Community Mental Health, Outpatient Therapy, Residential Treatment and in a Maximum Security Prison. Also, I have worked as an Adjunct College Professor. In my profession, I value being emphatic, attentive, and respectful to all races, religions, sexual orientations, and socio-economic status.
I am sensitive to the reality that we live in a fast-paced world. And it is difficult to find someone, where you can safely say, " can I tell you my story; will you listen to my concerns?" When we begin our time together, I will be attentive, as I listen to your story and provide a safe place to share and vocalize your pain.
It is my belief that therapy is a collaborative effort. When you are ready, we will begin the change process. First, we will identify what you value and discuss how problems have intruded into your life and taken away what you deem as important. Next I will assist you with identifying what is your best hopes for our time together. From what you desire to change, we will prioritize and set goals. Using your strengths, we will set action steps to achieve your goals. We will work towards establishing the future that you desire.
The modalities I primarily utilize are Cognitive- Behavioral, Narrative Therapy, Solution -Focused Therapy and a Person Centered approach. However, I am sensitive to the reality that a "one-size" fits all approach, doesn't work for everyone in counseling. Therefore, we will collaborate with an approach that is suited to you as an individual.
Also, I am available to utilize my clinical skills, in conjunction with Christian Biblical principles and wisdom.
Above all, I applaud you with taking the steps to write your preferred future. I am ready to assist and motivate you in this journey and look forward to working with you!

Sharon is great. She is kind, understanding and easy to talk to.
Sharon is a wonderful counselor! She provided exactly the Christian based support I was hoping for while going through a very difficult and traumatic time. I feel very blessed indeed that I was matched with Sharon and also blessed by the many other tools available on Betterhelp. Best gift I ever gave myself!
Sharon, is awesome . I have been to other therapist before, and Sharon has has done far more for me than the others combined.
Ms. Sharon is amazing ❣️
Sharon is very helpful in helping you process things that you may not be able in any other setting. She helps you to verbalize what is difficult to put into words. Sharon gives you a confidence that you can take back control over your thoughts and emotions.
Sharon is very professional, knowledgeable, and empathetic. I feel safe and comfortable during my time with her. I believe that she is committed to helping me and even goes above and beyond. I highly recommend her.
Sharon is a great counselor.
She was able to help me identify my problems and helped me come up with battle plans to win over them.
I appreciate Sharon’s wisdom and encouragement. She has been a help during a very stressful time.
We just started but Sharon is very kind and wise and Im excited to continue working with her.
Sharon really care about you as a person. She takes the time to truly listen to you. She truly wants you to be a whole person.
Exactly the help I need! Helped me find a way to "live my truth," and I now have the tools to prevent me from emotionally spiraling.
Sharon is very attentive at targeting the root of an issue and giving you a different perspective to look at things that you may not have thought to look at them before. She’s very down to earth and sweet has very good expertise. I would highly recommend picking her!
Sharon is a phenomenal counselor. She is very wise and highly insightful about my issues, and is not only a great listener but provides me with very helpful actionable ideas to improve what I am working on. She asks the right questions to help me understand myself and grow. I highly recommend working with Sharon!
Working with Sharon has been the 2020 blessing that I've needed, in order to begin healing and establishing the foundation to being the best me [for me]!! Sharon's listening ear and guidance have been an asset for me!! Our counseling sessions and the homework assignments have pushed me out of my comfort zone and they are making me properly address areas in my life that need work!! I definitely recommend Sharon as a counselor and fellow sister in Christ!!
Sharon has been excellent so far. She does not sugar coat a thing, and is focused on understanding the bigger picture to make sure we move forward with the right steps
She’s a great listener and you can tell she really comprehends the situation
Sharon has been extremely helpful in helping me identify my anxieties and stressors and find the tools to manage them. She is personal, interactive, insightful, and open during our sessions. Her experience and expertise are clear in our conversations and I find myself looking forward to our sessions every week. She is encouraging and supportive but also firm when needed - I have gained more from our sessions than with any other therapist I have seen.
I was in a really dark place before I contacted Sharon. I hated my life to put it simply. She helped encourage me to see a psychiatrist and get the help I need. I got on medication and she taught me ways to help cope with stress, depression, and anxiety. Its not all sunshine and rainbows now, it won't be for you either more than likely, because no matter what life will always throw stress your way, but she taught me how to cope with it and not let it consume me. And im not depressed anymore, and I dont hate my life anymore, and I finally am starting to believe everything is going to be okay for me.
She is a very good listener and can pick up how a person is right away. She has helped me in short amount of time to be a better person already
Sharon is a very helpful individual. Kind and personal. Easy to talk to with everything. She has helped me alot in the few weeks I've been seeing her. I highly recommend her.
I was a little hesitant about Ms. Calhoun initially and me attending counseling altogether. Despite my reservations I’m glad I have her and counseling the opportunity to help me. We’ve only had 2 sessions and a big breakthrough has occurred. I’m thankful for her expertise but more importantly her empathy and compassion. I felt very comfortable and was able to be transparent. I believe she is a blessing to my life and I’m so thankful. She’s God fearing and very easy to talk to. I’m so glad I’m so fortunate.
Sharon has been wonderful. I have really been struggling with a decision to get a divorce from my husband, who has an alcohol problem. She has been so knowledgable and supportive in helping me to decide for myself what is best. I would recommend Sharon to anyone as I feel she has been pivotal in helping me through one of the most difficult situations of my life.
