I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed by the state of Michigan. I have over 35 years of experience counseling clients, with depression, anxiety, addiction, lifestyle adjustments, trauma, and grief/loss. I have worked in Community Mental Health, Outpatient Therapy, Residential Addiction Treatment and in a Maximum Security Prison. Also, I have worked as an Adjunct College Professor. As a therapist, I value being emphatic, attentive, and respectful to all races, religions, and sexual orientations.
I realize that beginning therapy may be unsettling. Yet, it is a testament to your courage and self-determination to begin therapy to address experiences, that are often painful or difficult to share with family and friends. As therapy is a collaborative journey, I will commit to joining with you through the change process.
In our first session, I would like you to get to know me. We all live in a fast paced world and at times we need someone to listen to our story and be empathetic. I am compassionate about helping people, as being human, I have had my own struggles and disappointments. However, I will not just listen to you, but I will provide you with best practice interventions in my therapeutic approach. And, I will provide an atmosphere where you are comfortable with sharing your concerns.
I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy to identify problem areas you would like to change, and then use Solution-Focused Therapy to set goals to achieve those changes. Continuing throughout therapy, I will utilize Motivational Interviewing to keep your focus upon ways your life can be better, with working through your challenges in therapy.
Also, I am comfortable with providing therapy, using Christian Principles in concert with my Therapeutic Modalities.
It is an honor and privilege to use my talents and education, in a profession, that I am passionate about. I look forward to working with you!

Attentive and compassionate. Used my own strengths/weaknesses within my therapy sessions to help me uncover things for myself. A great human in this realm!

Sharon is wonderful, if you are willing to put in the effort you will get the biggest reward. She uses different tools to help you find growth and the more examples we can provide the better she will be able to understand your situation and help you grow. She can be no nonsense if needed, and will hold you accountable. Do your homework!
