Hi, my name is Sheila Flipse. My passion is to come along side individuals who are hurting and struggling and walk with them through their journey to health and wholeness in a kind and compassionate manner. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor in the state of Nevada, and a licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York. I am also a national certified counselor.
Born in Liverpool, England I moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada as a child and became and American citizen in 2000. My areas of specialty include grief and loss, depression, anxiety and stress and sexual addiction. While I was a college professor, I developed a class entitled, Death and Dying that has proved helpful to many people over the last few years. I love to help people build a healthy self concept and develop confidence. I have over 25 years of counseling experience.
My professional life has included working with the homeless, prison, college and military populations. I have lots of experience with relationship and marital concerns. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, playing board games and volunteering for community activities.
My approach is very much cognitive behavioral therapy with motivational interviewing techniques. Together we work to find out what is working in the client's life and develop those skills and techniques and we work at helping the client become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking patterns so that they can begin to view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in more effective ways.
It would be my honor to work with you.

Sheila helps me reframe my trauma so that I can stop being paralyzed by it. I am making progress. We text throughout the week, and video chat once a week. Staying connected consistently makes me feel less isolated.
So far she has been very helpful
Sheila is a no-nonsense counselor. Once you tell her your life stories, she asks questions that you wouldn't even think if you keep everything to yourself. Moreover, she loves and enjoys helping people. You won't feel like you're in a counseling session. She's compassionate, warm-hearted, and perceptive.
Amazing counselor with relevant experience to see a clear picture of what I describe and the insight to see where things could get murky to find a plausible solution.
I love knowing Sheila is out there when I need an objective ear. We haven't been working together for very long at this point, I look forward to a long connection with her.
Sheila was truly amazing. I have never been one to go to therapy but she changed my mind about that. She is kind, she listens and she taught me so much. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs guidance.
Sheila has helped me through difficult times. I've seen many therapists over the years. She is one of the few who has been able to help me. She is caring and very competent. Her advice is based on research but also practical. I highly recommend her.
My therapist Sheila has been very professional and objective. I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that my therapy is right at my fingertips. She responds quickly. I do like the fact that video and live chat are available. I just really enjoy the therapy that I have all the time if needed. I am very satisfied and excited about learning new techniques to find happiness and peace.
She’s wonderful, listens to me, and validates me.
She is a nice listener and gives me new aspects to reflect on my thinking patterns.
We had one video chat so far. However in one visit she could tell from key words i was using exactly what areas i need to focus on. I enjoy her very much and look forward to our next video session.
Sheila is very responsive and offers great solutions and thinking outside of the box for your problems at hand.
Sheila has helped me in ways that I didn't think were possible. She has made me see things that I didn't know were there and how to talk and express my feelings.
Sheila is awesome. I love how she helps me to see what was there in me all the time. She is very encouraging and helpful offering me ideas and techniques I can use on my journey to recovery.
