About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and board certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. I have worked in both private practice and at local agencies, as well as in the school system and in higher education. I have over 17 years of clinical experience with various populations with a wide variety of concerns, ranging from psychiatric conditions, addictions, physical trauma, emotional trauma, grief/loss/end of life, as well as menopause, healthy aging, career and life coaching. I have many years beyond working in the mental health setting in other capacities. I have a post master's certificate to teach psychology and have worked intensively with educational planning.

My counseling style is warm, empathetic and interactive. I believe that the most productive therapy happens when clients are encouraged to be the experts of their own lives and that the goals of therapy are to help them find the options, skills and perspectives that can empower them to make changes to live a healthier and happier life. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy in my practice and emphasize maintaining appropriate boundaries within the therapeutic alliance.

I see clients who are 25 and older.

I look forward to working with you!

Shelly has been very helpful and providing advice for overcoming my anxiety and past traumas. She is very understanding and easy to talk to and I would strongly recommend her services to anyone looking for help or support.

I first saw Shelly's profile and what resonated with me was that her bio specified Compassion fatigue , something I had not seen before. I am coming off a very stressful year of being a caretaker .Our first session Shelly reassured me that what I was feeling was a normal response to my trauma. She is compassionate and validates my feelings.

Shelly is a fantastic therapist. I'm going through an extremely difficult time and I feel better after each session. She truly listens and I feel reassured that if I truly need to reach her, she'd make the time, which is tremendously appreciated. She reminds me to stay positive and encourages me to remember important mantras to get through every day. I wish I found her and Betterhelp years ago, better late than never, as they say.

I am so glad that I paired with Shelly! She is kind and warm in nature, listens attentively, but what I love most about her is that she gives me science about why I might be feeling the way I am. It makes everything a lot less overwhelming or scary. She has given me a few very practical "nuggets" of information or advice that I'm able to easily implement and have made a positive impact. I'm thankful to have her in my corner.
