Dr. Sherrin Packer-Rosenthal, LMFT, LCSW
About me
I am licensed in California with 40 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress, anxiety, trauma, abuse, & parenting issues. I also have experience working with coping with life changes. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
A little more about my background: I believe in staying current with the latest knowledge of psychology, neurology and biology. I maintain contact with educational institutions so that while obtaining the most current information, it is with a critical eye to the importance of the methodology used to do the research. My work with you will be selected from the best methods available that fits you and your choices. You will become an expert in you. If you are working with your family or a partner, you will develop skills and have access to become comfortable with being a confident, loving parent and or partner with the people you will be with for the rest of your lives: therapy is always available but you will become the expert with your family and husband, wife or partner. One of the most important aspects of our work will be to know how to repair the ruptures of everyday life. My training includes an NIMH Fellowship in Community Mental health where I worked with all ages, backgrounds, orientations. I helped to found the first shelters, creating children support programs. I have learned with Dr. Alicia Lieberman, PhD to help families with challenges. I became a credentialed school counselor so I could help families navigate early identification, IEP's and 504s ensuring children get access to an appropriate education. I spent time learning with Bessel van der Kolk, Stephen Porges, Daniel Siegel, and others who have emphasized the multiple ways we can help the people with whom we are privileged to work. And the importance of helping to develop self compassion and self kindness. Thank you for the privilege of allowing me to be present for your growth.

Working with my therapist, Dr. Sherrin Packer-Rosenthal, has been nothing short of life changing. From our very first session, she has created a space where I have felt genuinely seen, heard, and safe—something I hadn’t realized how much I needed until I experienced it.
What sets her apart is her ability to gently but powerfully guide me through reframing deeply rooted negative self-belief. She has never offered easy answers or surface-level reassurance. Instead, she has helped me dig deep, face the hard truths, and build something stronger in place. Through her support, I’ve learned how to challenge the inner critic that used to dominate my thinking and replace it with a more compassionate, realistic perspective.
She has also been instrumental in helping me move forward from a painful past—not by forgetting it, but by working through it with determination and intention. She encourages me to put in the hard work, never sugarcoating the process, but always reminds me that I am capable of growth, change, and healing. Her mix of empathy, insight, and honest encouragement give me both the tools and the confidence to rebuild a healthier relationship with myself and the world around me.
I’m incredibly grateful for her impact on my life. If you’re ready to do the work and are looking for a therapist who will walk beside you with wisdom and unwavering support, I can’t recommend her highly enough.
